Compare the fire walls and roof ornaments
Udatsu are walls built at the ends of roofs to hinder the spread of fire. Merchant rivalry produced different tile and eaves designs. In the preserved district of Edo–Meiji houses, compare the exteriors of the Kosaka and former Imai residences and the details of latticework and walls.
Daytime walks and the 2026 light-art exhibition
The free 2026 Mino Washi Light Art Exhibition is illuminated 17:00–21:00. Part one, featuring this year’s entries, runs October 11–23; part two shows past prizewinners October 24–November 30. Combine architecture, a meal and evening light art. The indoor Akari Art Museum and former Imai residence have separate admission charges and closing times.
Walking and photography on everyday streets
Residents and vehicles continue to use these streets. Leave room for traffic and shop access and avoid prolonged roadside parking. Smoking is restricted to designated places. Streetscape photography is allowed; for organised pre-wedding or location shoots including premises, the association requests advance permission from their owners or managers.
Walk from Mino-shi Station or use visitor parking
Allow about fifteen minutes on foot from Nagaragawa Railway’s Mino-shi Station or five minutes by car from Mino IC. The Kajiya-cho address identifies the tourist information landmark. Use visitor parking such as Kanko Fureai Hiroba for the walk. Walk from the parking area into the district, allowing time for individual shops and paid museums.
Combine sights, meals and local travel
Combine the streets with a historic-house stay and a reserved Italian meal. DONI DONI closes Mondays; its course begins at 12:00 and pasta lunch at 13:00. Kajiya-cho parking requests a ¥100 contribution for up to two hours, separately from hotel guest parking.
