Enjoy Lake Hoko and the nature of Nenoue Highland
Ena Sanso is a public lodge in Nenoue Highland, Higashino, Ena. Stay plans can combine a walk by Lake Hoko, boating, or outdoor activities such as splitting wood and lighting a fire. Activities vary by plan.
Seventeen rooms for different group sizes
The lodge has 17 rooms: two Japanese-Western rooms, one large 18-tatami room, three 8-tatami rooms and eleven 6-tatami rooms. Capacities are two to five, four to nine, two to four and one to three guests respectively. The large room can be opened into a 36-tatami space for groups of ten or more.
Hands-on BBQ and seasonal meals
The outdoor BBQ plan lets guests start by lighting the fire themselves. Other options include seasonal kaiseki and, in winter, a tomato hot pot with Ena chicken and seasonal vegetables. Breakfast features hoba miso made with the chef’s blended miso and locally grown Higashino Koshihikari rice.
Day bathing and access from the Ena side
The viewing bath uses an Ena bathing additive rather than natural hot-spring water. Day bathing is ¥600 for adults on weekdays and ¥700 on weekends and holidays; children aged three through elementary school pay ¥400 or ¥500, and children under three are free. Hours are 09:00–12:00 and 14:00–20:00, with opening days and times varying. The lodge recommends approaching from the Ena side via Prefectural Route 413; the Route 363/413 approach from Nakatsugawa is narrow and steep.
