A recreated settlement of ten gassho houses
Ten gassho-style houses relocated from places including Shirakawa-go form a recreated settlement centred on the Former Oto Family House, a National Important Cultural Property. Visitors can compare the thatched roofs and building layouts while learning about traditional homes in Hida.
Folk exhibits and the Enku Museum
The Gassho Village includes a folk museum showing farming tools and household objects from daily life in earlier times. The Enku Museum displays Buddhist works by Enku, so a walk through the settlement brings together buildings and collections.
Daily opening hours and admission
The village is open 8:30–17:00, with last admission at 16:30. It has no regular closing day; admission is ¥800 for high-school students and adults and ¥400 for elementary and junior-high pupils. Individual facilities may close temporarily.
Craft workshops and access from Gero Station
At Hida Kobo, visitors can try pottery painting, pottery making and washi-paper making. Workshop fees vary by activity, and shipping may be charged for finished pieces. The village is about a 20-minute walk from Gero Station or a six-minute ride on the Gassho Village bus.
