See washi light art in the upstairs gallery
The upstairs gallery presents prizewinning works from the annual Mino Washi Light Art Exhibition. Compare paper thickness, shape and the patterns revealed by transmitted light. View the works without touching them; prefectural visitor guidance also describes taking photographs.
The ground-floor shop and heritage building
The ground floor provides free rest space and a shop selling paper-lighting products. Built around 1941 as the Mino Town Industrial Hall, the two-storey timber building emphasises horizontal exterior lines and is a nationally registered tangible cultural property. Combine shopping with the paid upstairs displays.
Seasonal closing times and the current calendar
Closing is 16:30 April–September and 16:00 October–March, with last entry fifteen minutes earlier. The fiscal-2026 calendar closes October 27 and November 4, 10, 17 and 24, then December 28–January 3. When combining this museum with evening outdoor light art, enter the museum by its 15:45 autumn deadline.
Walking access and combined museum tickets
Walk about fifteen minutes from Mino-shi Station or drive ten minutes from Mino IC, using Kanko Fureai Hiroba parking for the district. Admission is ¥200 for senior-high pupils and older visitors; a two-museum ticket with the Imai residence is ¥400, or ¥800 including the outlying Paper Museum. Allow for that onward journey and different closure calendars.
Combine sights, meals and local travel
Combine lantern art, a townhouse stay and Izumi-cho sweets. Tomiya closes Wednesdays and Thursdays, with last orders at 17:00. Centre parking allows entry until 22:00 and exit at any time, with a ¥500 cap until 7:00 next morning. Its public charges are separate from Baison’s four free spaces and larger-vehicle arrangements.
