温泉寺｜下呂温泉街を見渡す高台の寺院

温泉寺は下呂温泉街を見渡す高台に位置する臨済宗妙心寺派の寺院です。境内へ続く石段を上ると、温泉街と飛騨川を望む景色が広がり、秋には紅葉ライトアップが行われます。

2026年の紅葉ライトアップ日程

2026年の紅葉ライトアップは11月13日（金）から23日（月）まで、日没から21時までの予定です。境内の紅葉を照らす期間限定の催しで、通常の寺院参拝とは開催時間が異なります。

下呂駅から温泉街を歩いて訪問

温泉寺の所在地は湯之島680で、JR下呂駅から徒歩約15分です。温泉街の坂道と石段を通るため、日中の参拝と夜間のライトアップでは歩く時間帯が異なります。

A temple with deep ties to the hot-spring town

Onsenji is a Rinzai Zen temple whose history is closely linked with Gero Onsen. Its grounds rise above the hot-spring town, bringing the temple’s history and the townscape together.

Views from the temple grounds

A stone-step approach climbs from the centre of the hot-spring district to the temple grounds. From the hilltop, visitors can look across Gero’s streets and the scenery along the Hida River.

2026 autumn illumination dates

The 2026 autumn foliage illumination is scheduled for Friday, November 13 through Monday, November 23, from sunset to 21:00. It is a seasonal event with hours different from ordinary temple visits.

Walk through town from Gero Station

Onsenji is at 680 Yunoshima, about a 15-minute walk from JR Gero Station. The route follows sloping streets and stone steps, so a daytime visit and an evening illumination visit involve different walking conditions.
