Aqua Biwa is a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism exhibition facility near the Seta River weir. It explains water flowing from the lake and the flood-control and water-supply systems supporting everyday life. Free indoor displays can be combined with a walk around the river.

琵琶湖の水を模型と映像で知る
展示は琵琶湖の治水、利水、水環境などを扱います。歴史に関わる実物、しくみを確かめる模型、ゲーム感覚の展示や映像など、複数の方法で水への理解を深める構成です。目の前の瀬田川と湖、下流の暮らしをつなげて考えると、風景として眺めるだけではわからない水の役割に気付けます。
雨たいけん室の休止と展示見学
雨たいけん室は設備故障のため一時利用できません。館内では、琵琶湖の水を学ぶ模型や映像などの展示を見学できます。治水や利水のしくみを知る屋内見学を、通常の開館時間に組み込めます。
午前と午後の開館、十一月の指定休館
開館は9時30分～12時と13～16時で、正午から13時は見学時間外です。11月は3日火曜の祝日は開館し、4・10・17・24日が通常カレンダーの休館、さらに21日土曜は設備点検のため臨時休館です。午前から午後へまたいで訪ねる場合や、祝日の前後に利用する場合は、この時間と日程で組めます。
南郷洗堰停留所から徒歩五分
所在地は黒津4-2-2です。JR石山駅から路線バスで約20分、京阪石山寺駅から約10分で「南郷洗堰」下車、徒歩約5分です。駐車場を備え、身障者用は2台ありますが、マイクロバス以上の大きさの車は駐車できません。団体の車両を普通車と同じ条件で予定せず、徒歩や路線バスで到着する経路も選べます。

Understand the lake through models and films
Displays cover flood control, water use and the lake environment through historic objects, models, interactive exhibits and films. Different approaches help visitors explore water beyond its appearance in the landscape. Consider how the nearby Seta River connects the lake with communities downstream.
Rain-room suspension and the remaining displays
The rain-experience room is temporarily unavailable because of equipment failure. Models, films and other displays about Lake Biwa’s water remain available during normal opening sessions, introducing flood control and water use.
Morning and afternoon sessions and November closures
Opening is split into 09:30–12:00 and 13:00–16:00, with no visits during the midday break. November 3, a Tuesday holiday, opens; November 4, 10, 17 and 24 are calendar closures, with an additional inspection closure on Saturday November 21. Account for these sessions and exceptions when planning a visit.
Five minutes from the Nango Araizeki bus stop
The facility is at 4-2-2 Kurozu. Take a public bus for around twenty minutes from JR Ishiyama or ten minutes from Keihan Ishiyamadera, alight at Nango Araizeki and walk about five minutes. Parking includes two accessible spaces, but minibuses and larger vehicles cannot park. Public buses provide an alternative for visitors arriving without a standard car.
