Textile art and permanent exhibitions
The museum area presents towels and other textiles as artworks. Permanent displays include the World of Moomin and the World of Kathy Nakajima. Nakajima’s exhibition features large quilts, smaller objects such as bags, chenille-towel pieces and towel art. Indoor exhibits and outdoor gardens offer different settings for colour and texture.
From cotton to thread and woven towels
The paid manufacturing area introduces the sequence from carding cotton through drawing, roving, spinning, winding and weaving. Displays explain how fibres are straightened and drawn out, twisted into yarn and woven from warp and weft. This adds the materials and machinery behind the finished products sold in the shops.
Gallery admission and shopping-only visits
Admission costs ¥1,000 adults, ¥800 junior/senior-high pupils or ¥600 primary pupils, with younger children free. Visitors aged sixty-five and over pay ¥700; eligible disabled visitors and one attendant pay ¥500 each. Show proof at reception for concessions. Shopping or dining alone does not require museum admission, and gallery tickets can be bought on arrival without an advance booking.
