今治市伊東豊雄建築ミュージアムは、大三島南西部の浦戸にある、建物そのものも見どころとなる美術館です。多面体のスティールハットと、旧自邸を再生したシルバーハットの二棟を通じて、伊東豊雄の建築と地域への取り組みに触れられます。瀬戸内海を背にした屋外模型も合わせて巡れます。

多面体がつながるスティールハット
スティールハットは、エントランスホール、三つの展示室、サロン、テラスから成ります。正三角形と正方形の面をもつ多面体をつなぎ、壁や屋根の境目を感じさせない空間をつくっています。展示内容とともに、部屋の形や視線の変化をたどって歩くことができます。
シルバーハットと海辺の模型
シルバーハットは旧自邸を再生した建物で、浅いアーチ状の屋根が重なります。図書閲覧スペースには伊東豊雄が選んだ約155件のプロジェクト図面を中心とする資料があり、屋外にはMIKIMOTO Ginza2、多摩美術大学図書館、サーペンタイン・ギャラリー・パヴィリオンの大型模型を常設しています。二棟と屋外展示を一つの施設として巡れます。
観覧料と延長された展示会期
一般840円、学生420円、65歳以上670円、20名以上の団体は一般670円・学生340円です。高校生以下または18歳未満は無料で、障害者と介助者1名も無料。「再び、大三島を元気にしよう！」展は会期を延長し、2027年1月11日までの開催です。通常の開館時間は9～17時、月曜休館で祝日の場合は原則翌日に振り替え、12月27～31日も休館します。
浦戸への島内移動と駐車場
住所は大三島町浦戸2418。大三島ICから車で約25分で、駐車場は障害者用1台を含む7台です。バスは宮浦港で宗方方面の島内便に乗り換え、ところミュージアム停留所から徒歩約3分の経路があります。今治港から宗方港へ船で渡り、島内バスに接続する経路もあります。

Toyo Ito Museum of Architecture, Imabari stands in Urado in southwestern Omishima, with the architecture itself forming part of the visit. The polyhedral Steel Hut and Silver Hut, a recreation of Ito’s former home, explore his work and engagement with the region. Outdoor models add the Seto Inland Sea as a backdrop.

The connected polyhedra of Steel Hut
Steel Hut contains an entrance hall, three exhibition rooms, a salon and a terrace. Connected polyhedra with triangular and square faces create interiors in which walls and roofs merge. Walking through the displays also reveals changes in room shape and sightlines.
Silver Hut and outdoor models by the sea
Silver Hut recreates Ito’s former residence beneath a sequence of shallow arched roofs. Its reading space holds drawings centred on around 155 projects selected by Ito. Large outdoor models include MIKIMOTO Ginza2, Tama Art University Library and the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion. The two buildings and grounds form one museum visit.
Admission and the extended exhibition
Admission is ¥840 adults, ¥420 students or ¥670 for ages sixty-five and over. Groups of twenty or more pay ¥670 adults or ¥340 students. High-school pupils and younger or visitors under eighteen enter free, as do disabled visitors and one attendant. The exhibition about revitalising Omishima has been extended through January 11, 2027. Normal hours are 09:00–17:00; closure is Monday, normally shifted to the following day after a Monday holiday, and December 27–31.
Island travel to Urado and parking
The address is 2418 Urado, Omishima-cho, around twenty-five minutes by car from Omishima IC. Seven parking spaces include one accessible bay. Bus journeys change at Miyaura Port to a local service toward Munakata, followed by about three minutes on foot from Tokoro Museum stop. A sea route crosses from Imabari Port to Munakata Port and continues by local bus.
Other stops to combine within Imabari
Imabari extends from its mainland centre across islands including Oshima, Hakatajima and Omishima. These suggestions include other parts of the city, so allow bridge or boat travel between islands. Oshima-minami Interchange serves arrivals from Shikoku and Oshima-kita those from Honshu. For ferry-served Ushima or car-restricted Umashima, coordinate sailings or reserved transfers with accommodation arrival times.
