Shared free parking for museum and ruins
The advertised capacity is 58 cars and six buses, including three accessible spaces. Shared free parking allows a museum visit followed by the castle ruins. Free parking is separate from any special-exhibition charges or conditions applying at the ruins.
The long slope from general parking
General parking is separated from the museum entrance by a long slope. Allow approach time suited to the group’s walking pace and weather. Inside the museum, a lift reaches second-floor displays; wheelchairs and strollers are available to borrow.
A separate approach for accessible parking
Three accessible spaces are beside the museum. Arriving from Yobuko, the museum directs vehicles left up from the traffic lights below the building, while general parking is to the right. The accessible spaces lead to the entrance by ramp.
Overflow parking and visiting hours
At busy times visitors are directed to the multipurpose plaza near Chaen Kaigetsu on the west side. The museum opens 9:00–17:00, closed Mondays or the next weekday after holidays, plus New Year. Use the parking in connection with the museum and ruins rather than assuming overnight-stay facilities.
Other stops to combine within Karatsu
Yobuko harbour, Kabe Island and Nagoya in Chinzei combine coastal meals with historical visits. Allow driving time around squid availability, restaurant reception hours and accommodation dinner starts. Harbour municipal parking and the museum’s shared lot serve different visits; choose parking for each stop and allow time to return towards Karatsu Station.
