国道4号沿いの無料休憩駐車場
道の駅三本木やまなみは、三本木字大豆坂63-13の国道4号沿いにあります。普通車108台の案内に優先区画3台が含まれ、大型車は29台です。駐車場とトイレは24時間利用でき、移動中の休憩に立ち寄れます。優先区画はトイレのそばに配置されています。売り場やレストラン、近接する展示施設がまとまる場所なので、車を置いて休むだけでなく、その日の残り時間に応じて買い物や見学も組み合わせられます。
昼の売り場と食事の時刻
販売コーナーは9～18時、軽食コーナーは9～17時30分です。地場の新鮮な野菜や地域の特産品が並び、レストランには季節のメニューもあります。レストランは16時まで、注文は15時30分まで。館内で食事や買い物をする昼の利用と、駐車場・トイレを使う夜間の休憩では過ごし方が異なります。国道を走る途中で食事を取る場合は、売り場の終了より早い最終注文に合わせて立ち寄れます。
EV急速充電は2026年4月から休止
設置されているEV急速充電器は、2026年4月1日から当分の間使用できません。車の休憩場所としては利用できますが、この充電器を旅程の充電先には組み込めない状態です。一方、防災情報ステーションは8時30分～17時30分に道路情報や観光情報、周辺地域のパンフレットを提供します。情報施設は夜間に閉まるため、24時間使えるトイレや駐車スペースとは利用時間が分かれています。
亜炭の歴史を見る短い寄り道
隣接する三本木亜炭記念館は9～17時、年中無休・入館無料で、地域の採炭の歴史を紹介しています。約10tの炭塊や坑道の模型、採炭時に使われた道具などを見られ、屋外には当時のダイハツのオート三輪も展示されています。産品を買う立ち寄りと産業の歴史を見る時間を組み合わせると、道の駅周辺の土地の特徴に触れられます。休憩施設と記念館はそれぞれの開館時間に沿って利用できます。

Free roadside parking on Route 4
Sanbongi Yamanami stands on Route 4 at 63-13 Mamezaka. Its listed 108 ordinary-car spaces include three accessible spaces, while twenty-nine spaces serve large vehicles. Parking and toilets are available twenty-four hours, with accessible bays near the toilets. Shops, food facilities and a neighbouring museum allow the length of a roadside pause to expand according to the time available.
Daytime shopping and food
Retail runs 09:00–18:00 and the snack corner 09:00–17:30. Fresh local vegetables and regional products are available, and the restaurant offers seasonal dishes. Restaurant service ends at 16:00, with last orders at 15:30. Daytime meals and shopping therefore differ from a night-time stop for parking and toilets. Drivers planning a meal can work around the earlier restaurant order deadline.
Rapid EV charging suspended from April 2026
The installed rapid EV charger has been unavailable since April 1, 2026 until further notice. The car park remains a rest stop, but this charger cannot currently serve as a planned charging point. Separately, the Disaster Information Station provides road and tourism information and regional leaflets from 08:30 to 17:30. That building closes at night, unlike the twenty-four-hour toilets and parking area.
A short visit to lignite history
The adjoining Sanbongi Lignite Museum opens 09:00–17:00 daily with free admission. Displays introduce local mining through a roughly ten-tonne lignite block, a model mine passage and working tools. A Daihatsu three-wheeled vehicle used during mining is displayed outside. Combining local shopping with this industrial-history visit adds context to the surrounding area, while each indoor facility retains its own opening hours.
