平泉町の観光・宿泊・食事
The Golden Hall of 1124
Built for Fujiwara no Kiyohira in 1124, the Golden Hall features gold leaf and mother-of-pearl ornament. The standard ticket covers the Golden Hall, Sankozo, sutra repository and former protective hall.
Admission and ticket timing
Standard tickets cost ¥1,000 for adults, ¥700 for high-school students, ¥500 for junior-high students and ¥300 for elementary pupils. Arriving just before closing may leave time only for the Golden Hall, without Sankozo.
The 2026 special opening
A special display of Ichiji Kinrin Butcho-son runs July 17–November 15, 2026, in a separate Sankozo building. Combined tickets including standard admission cost ¥1,600 for adults, ¥900 for high-school students, ¥700 for junior-high students and ¥500 for elementary pupils.
Walking from the car parks
The main hall is about 850 m from car park 1 via Tsukimizaka, or about 240 m from Sakanoue parking. There are no lockers within the temple grounds; storing bulky luggage at Hiraizumi Station can make the walk easier.
