かまくら館は、冬の伝統行事を季節にかかわらず体感できる横手市中心部の施設です。冷やした展示室に地元の雪で作るかまくらを置き、映像では横手の四季を紹介しています。雪室を見学した後は、売店で地域の食品や土産を選び、城山方面の見学へつなげられます。

横手の雪に触れる常設のかまくら
ファンタジックギャラリーのかまくら室は常に約マイナス10度に保たれ、職人が横手の雪で作った本物のかまくらを展示します。外に雪のない季節にも、雪国の行事の空間を体験できるのが特徴です。館内と雪室には大きな温度差があるため、冷たい空間へ入る見学であることを踏まえて利用します。映像室では大画面で横手の景観や四季を楽しめます。
四つの施設を同じ券で巡る
有料のファンタジックギャラリーは高校生以上100円、中学生以下無料です。100円の共通入場券は、かまくら館、横手公園展望台、後三年合戦金沢資料館、石坂洋次郎文学記念館の4館で使えます。有効なのは発行日当日のみ。各施設の開館時間と休館期間は異なるので、かまくら館の9～17時と、次に向かう館の見学時間を組み合わせて順番を選べます。
補修期間の展示休止と売店
かまくらの補修や作り替えのため、通常は8月中旬～9月中旬のうち約1週間、2月中旬～下旬のうち約1週間、雪室への入場を休止します。その間も観光協会売店は通常営業です。売店には大沢葡萄ジュース、横手やきそば、観光協会独自の土産などが並び、贈り物や発送にも対応。雪室見学と買い物は、それぞれの利用条件に合わせて選べます。
駅から歩ける中心部の複合施設
横手駅から徒歩約10分、横手ICと横手北スマートICからそれぞれ車約10分、駐車場もあります。見学は9～17時、年末年始12月29日～1月3日は休館し、ほか臨時休館もあります。建物には346席のホールや会議室もありますが、一般の展示見学は一階が中心です。駅周辺で昼食を取り、雪室と土産売店へ歩く中心市街地の立ち寄りにできます。
横手市内で組み合わせる訪問先
駅周辺、増田・十文字、平鹿、雄物川、大森、大雄、山内は移動する方面が異なります。見学や食事の締切と、宿へ到着する時刻を合わせて行程を組めます。関連する駐車場はそれぞれの施設・地域の利用拠点です。
In central Yokote, the Kamakura Museum introduces the city’s winter tradition throughout the year. A refrigerated room preserves a hut made with local snow, while a screen presents the changing seasons. After the snow-room visit, browse regional food and souvenirs before continuing towards the castle hill or other town sights.

Experience a snow hut throughout the year
The Fantastic Gallery’s refrigerated room stays near minus ten degrees and contains a real hut built by craftspeople using Yokote snow. It offers a sense of the winter festival even when there is no snow outside. Entering involves a substantial temperature change from the ordinary building interior. The adjoining screen presentation introduces Yokote’s scenery through the seasons, complementing the cold-room experience.
Use one ticket for four local museums
The ticketed Fantastic Gallery costs ¥100 for high-school age and over; younger visitors enter free. The same ¥100 ticket covers Kamakura Museum, Yokote Park Observatory, the Kanazawa Gosannen War Museum and Ishizaka Yojiro Literary Museum. It is valid only on the issue date. Each museum has its own hours and seasonal closures, so fit the next visit around this building’s 09:00–17:00 opening.
Snow-room maintenance and the shop
Repairing and rebuilding the snow hut generally closes the refrigerated room for about a week between mid-August and mid-September, and another week in mid-to-late February. The tourism-association shop normally remains open during that work. Products include Osawa grape juice, Yokote yakisoba and association souvenirs, with gift and delivery services available. Plan the exhibition and shopping parts of the stop according to their separate availability.
A central cultural stop within walking distance
Walk about ten minutes from Yokote Station, or drive roughly ten minutes from either Yokote IC or Yokote-kita Smart IC; parking is available. Visiting hours are 09:00–17:00, with December 29–January 3 closure and additional temporary dates. The building also contains a 346-seat hall and meeting rooms, while ordinary exhibition visits focus on the ground floor. Combine it with a meal around the station and central-town sightseeing.
Other stops to combine within Yokote
The station area, Masuda/Jumonji, Hiraka, Omonogawa, Omori, Taiyu and Sannai involve different directions of travel. Combine sightseeing and meal deadlines with the intended accommodation arrival time. Related parking serves its own facility or area as a stopping point.
