Kido Gorobei Village brings old thatched houses from the Omonogawa area together in an outdoor setting. Walk between full-sized historic dwellings and seasonal greenery, experiencing a scale different from object displays in a museum. Planning depends on whether the aim is a grounds walk or entering the houses, whose interior visiting hours finish earlier.

Walk among Edo-to-Taisho thatched homes
Relocated and restored homes from the Edo through Taisho periods preserve local domestic architecture as city-designated cultural properties. The former Terada, Sato, Kuroishi and Konno houses can be viewed externally and, during interior opening hours, from within. Open space between them gives room to compare buildings against seasonal surroundings, moving between the outdoor village setting and the individual homes.
Distinguish grounds and interior visiting hours
The village opens 09:00–21:00, while house interiors are available only 09:00–16:30. Arrive before late afternoon to see the rooms, reserving later time for the grounds. Walking within the site is also possible outside village hours. Entry is free, with December 29–January 3 closure. Ordinary daytime visits and hiring a house for a meeting are different forms of use with different arrangements.
Apply separately to hire a house or square
Houses and the square can be hired for activities such as meetings, events or learning sessions. Ordinary noncommercial use costs ¥500 per hour, doubled to ¥1,000 for users resident outside Yokote; commercial use is ¥1,500 per hour. The four named houses and square are covered. The Sato and Kuroishi houses are suggested for larger gatherings, and a use-permission application is required.
Include the village in an Omonogawa day
The village is at 336 Takabatake, Numadate, with parking available. The Omonogawa local-history museum and parks provide other nearby stops, allowing indoor interpretation to complement the actual houses. Riverside Hill manages the site. Use the 16:30 interior closing time to arrange meals, riverside walks and accommodation, while distinguishing ordinary free visits from areas hired for organised activities.
Other stops to combine within Yokote
The station area, Masuda/Jumonji, Hiraka, Omonogawa, Omori, Taiyu and Sannai involve different directions of travel. Combine sightseeing and meal deadlines with the intended accommodation arrival time. Related parking serves its own facility or area as a stopping point.
