Children’s bowls and the Miffy exhibition
Around 800 children’s bowls, mainly featuring characters, trace production from the Taisho era to today. Miffy and Children’s Time runs August 1–November 23, 2026. Admission including the exhibition is ¥700 for adults and ¥200 for primary to high-school pupils, free for preschoolers. Permanent-display-only admission is ¥400/¥100, and admission payments are cash only.
Decorating from ¥500, with firing taking one–three months
Overglaze decorating starts at ¥500 for a chopstick rest, crayon decorating at ¥1,300 and transfer decorating at ¥1,500, including tax but excluding admission. Firing-based sessions take about ninety minutes, and completed pieces usually take one–three months, sometimes longer. Same-day takeaway round or square coasters cost ¥500 each. Fired works can be shipped only within Japan.
Online booking, accompanying children and photography
Book regular decorating online from the first day of the preceding month until 9:00 on the day, and reach the workshop ten minutes before the session. The same-day takeaway course needs no reservation. Primary-school pupils and younger children require an accompanying adult. Displayed works cannot be photographed in the galleries; use designated photo spots. Pets are not admitted, except assistance dogs.
Free parking in Asahigaoka and extra weekend spaces
Drive about ten–fifteen minutes from Tajimi IC or take a roughly fifteen-minute taxi ride from Tajimi Station. Thirty free spaces are provided. When full on weekends and holidays, the museum directs visitors to additional cooperative-hall and Tono Shinkin Bank parking; those additional areas are not available for weekday museum visits.
Combine sights, meals and travel
Combine Asahigaoka ceramics with lunch at Swantile Cafe. Its craft workshop accepts arrivals until 14:00, so allow separate time for viewing and making. Plan the onward journey to Asahigaoka separately from parking south of the station.
