亀老山展望公園は、大島の南端にある山頂の展望地です。来島海峡大橋と潮流、島々を高い位置から見渡せ、晴れた日には石鎚山を望めます。展望台へ上がりながら、しまなみ海道の橋と瀬戸内海の地形が一つの眺めとして広がります。

大島の山頂から望む来島海峡
公園は標高307.8mにあり、来島海峡大橋と日本三大急潮の一つとされる来島海峡を見渡します。橋と島の重なりに加え、晴天時には四国の石鎚山も眺められます。昼間の海景から夕景、今治市街の夜景へと、時間で見え方が変わる展望地です。
隈研吾が設計した展望台
展望台は建築家の隈研吾による設計です。パノラマ展望台ブリッジを巡り、方向を変えながら海峡を眺められます。公園は24時間入園自由で、入園料はかかりません。橋のライトアップは実施日が決まるため、通常の夜景とは別の楽しみになります。
第1駐車場の工事と代替区画
2026年9月24日から2027年1月10日予定の工事中は、第1駐車場を利用できません。自動車は第2駐車場、自転車は第3駐車場を利用します。通常のトイレが使えないため、第3駐車場に仮設トイレを設置しています。公園へ車や自転車で向かう際は、この区画分けに沿って到着します。
南浦の山上へ車とバスで
所在地は吉海町南浦487-4。四国方面からは大島南ICを使い車で約10分、本州方面からは大島北ICを使い約15分です。通常の駐車場は普通車32台・大型6台の無料区画ですが、工事中は一部利用できません。路線バスの亀山停留所からは徒歩約120分の山道となるため、登りの徒歩時間を含めた行程で訪ねられます。
今治市内で組み合わせる訪問先
今治市は市街地と、大島・伯方島・大三島などの島々に広がります。以下は市内の別方面も含む訪問先で、島をまたぐ場合は橋や船での移動時間を取れます。大島のICは四国方面が大島南、本州方面が大島北。船で渡る鵜島や、自家用車で入れない馬島の宿は、船の運航と予約送迎を宿泊の到着時刻に合わせて選べます。
Kirosan Observation Park occupies a hilltop at the southern end of Oshima. Its elevated views take in Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge, the strait’s currents and surrounding islands, with Mount Ishizuchi visible on clear days. The ascent through the viewing structure brings the Shimanami Kaido bridges and Seto Inland Sea landscape together.

Kurushima Strait from an Oshima hilltop
At 307.8 metres, the park overlooks Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge and the strait’s powerful tidal waters. Layers of bridges and islands extend toward Shikoku, with Mount Ishizuchi visible in clear weather. Daylight sea views give way to evening scenery and the lights of Imabari.
The observation structure designed by Kengo Kuma
Architect Kengo Kuma designed the observation structure. Walking around its panoramic bridge changes the direction and framing of the strait views. The park is freely accessible twenty-four hours without an entrance fee. Special bridge illuminations take place on selected dates, separately from the ordinary night view.
Works at car park one and alternative areas
Car park one is unavailable during works scheduled from September 24, 2026 to January 10, 2027. Cars use park two and bicycles park three. Regular toilets are unavailable, with temporary toilets provided at park three. Arrivals by car or bicycle follow these separate areas during the works.
Reaching the hilltop above Minamiura
The park is at 487-4 Minamiura, Yoshiumi-cho. Arriving from Shikoku, use Oshima-Minami IC for about ten minutes by car; from Honshu, use Oshima-Kita IC for about fifteen minutes. The normal free parking provision is thirty-two cars and six large vehicles, with some areas unavailable during works. From Kameyama bus stop, the hilltop approach takes roughly two hours on foot along the mountain route.
Other stops to combine within Imabari
Imabari extends from its mainland centre across islands including Oshima, Hakatajima and Omishima. These suggestions include other parts of the city, so allow bridge or boat travel between islands. Oshima-minami Interchange serves arrivals from Shikoku and Oshima-kita those from Honshu. For ferry-served Ushima or car-restricted Umashima, coordinate sailings or reserved transfers with accommodation arrival times.
