Corner-shop noodles since 1882
Founded in 1882, the shop’s name comes from a local pronunciation of kado-no-udon, “corner udon.” Soft noodles are served in broth combining Rausu kombu, dried sardines and bonito. The warm noodles and soup form the meal’s core. Begin with the broth, then alternate between noodles and the chosen topping to explore the bowl.
Burdock tempura, fish cake and warm noodles
Plain udon and soba are ¥500 each. Burdock tempura costs ¥750; round fish cake, sweet tofu, shredded kombu and raw-egg toppings ¥720 each. Egg-bound and wakame bowls are ¥750, meat ¥1,080, meat with egg ¥1,180 and spicy cod roe ¥1,100. Choose by the topping’s character, from burdock’s toasted flavor to fish cake or egg.
Cold noodles and rice-side combinations
Cold zaru udon and soba cost ¥800 each, with large zaru soba ¥1,000. A larger warm-udon portion adds ¥200. Rice sides include inari sushi at ¥300 and chicken rice balls at ¥400. Choose warm broth or cold noodles first, then adjust quantity with noodles or a rice side for a meal centered on the bowl.
Link the meal to a Kamikawabata walk
At 2-1 Kamikawabatamachi, the shop is five minutes from Gion Station, about seven from Nakasu-Kawabata and one from Canal City Hakata-mae bus stop. There is no parking. Hours are 11:00–17:00 with earlier sellout closing. Tuesday is closed, moving to the next day for a Tuesday holiday. Fit the meal into daytime shrine and shopping-street walks.
