八王子城跡駐車場は、ガイダンス施設から御主殿跡や山城の散策へ出発できる無料の駐車場です。城跡は広く、山頂まで登るか山麓の復元遺構を回るかで必要時間が変わります。駐車場の17時終了から逆算し、展示やトイレの場所も合わせて訪問範囲を選べます。

元八王子町3-2664-2のガイダンス施設に隣接します。普通車50台で、思いやり駐車スペース等3台を含み、そのうち車椅子用は2台です。大型バスは4台分あり、利用には事前予約が必要です。駐車場とガイダンス施設の入館はともに無料。まず展示で城の全体を知り、体力や残り時間に合わせて山麓の遺構や登山道へ進めます。
17時までに戻る城跡散策
駐車場と臨時駐車場の利用は9～17時で、時間外・夜間の利用はできません。御主殿跡周辺の散策と、本丸跡までの登山では戻るまでの時間が違います。近隣は住宅地で、駐車場の外に停めて夜間まで滞在する利用もできません。夕方に訪れる日は、駐車終了までに歩いて戻れる範囲で城跡を見る行程にできます。
山頂トイレの休止と山麓の設備
山頂のトイレは2026年9月9日から休止中で、山中にほかのトイレはありません。山麓の管理棟トイレは9～17時に使えます。ガイダンス施設は12月29日～1月3日に休館しますが、この年末年始も駐車場と管理棟トイレは利用できます。
車での到着先とバスの選択肢
車の到着先はガイダンス施設隣接の駐車場で、史跡の管理棟住所3-2715-2とは位置が異なります。公共交通なら高尾駅北口1番から各方面のバスで霊園前・八王子城跡入口下車、徒歩約20分。土日祝は八王子城跡行きの便もあります。車で展示と散策を組む場合も、訪問開始を9時以後、帰着を17時までにそろえて利用できます。
八王子市内で組み合わせる訪問先
八王子城跡では、山頂まで登る行程と御主殿跡周辺を回る行程で時間が変わり、駐車場へ17時までに戻る予定を取れます。高尾山口の宿やそば店、南浅川の囲炉裏料理へ向かう場合は、いったん車やバスで市内を移動します。展示と山歩き、食事の注文終了を合わせ、城跡から次の訪問先へ向かう時刻を決められます。

Free parking beside the visitor centre
The lot adjoins the visitor centre at 3-2664-2 Motohachiojimachi. Fifty car spaces include three accessibility/consideration spaces, two designated for wheelchair users. Four bus spaces require advance reservation. Both parking and visitor-centre admission are free. Start with the castle overview before choosing lower ruins or the mountain trail around time and fitness.
Plan a return before 17:00
Both main and overflow parking operate 9:00–17:00, with no night or out-of-hours use. A Goshuden-area walk and a climb to the main enclosure take different return times. The surrounding area is residential, and parking outside the lots is prohibited. For an afternoon arrival, choose a walking range that brings you back before closing.
Closed summit toilets and facilities at the foot
Summit toilets have been closed since September 9, 2026, with no other mountain toilets. The lower management-building toilets operate 9:00–17:00. The visitor centre closes December 29–January 3, while parking and the management toilets remain available during those New Year dates.
Driving destination and bus alternatives
Use the lot beside the visitor centre as the driving destination; the historic site’s management building is separately addressed 3-2715-2. By public transport, buses from Takao north-exit stand 1 reach Reienmae–Hachioji-joseki-iriguchi, about twenty minutes away on foot. Direct castle buses also run weekends/holidays. Begin a driving visit after 9:00 and return to the car by 17:00.

A summit climb and a lower Goshuden-area walk at Hachioji Castle need different time, with return to parking by17:00. Accommodation and soba at Takaosanguchi, or irori dining in Minamiasakawa, require an onward city journey by car or bus.
