Explore animals and the changing garden
Combine the animal exhibits with flowers and greenery in the botanical garden during one visit. Use the grounds map to choose priorities and divide time between watching animals and strolling through planting. The Botanical Life Square introduces ideas for living with plants and provides another focus for exhibitions, events and a garden walk.
Age-based admission and document-based exemptions
Adults pay ¥600 and high-school students ¥300; junior-high age and younger enter free. Groups with thirty paying visitors receive ¥480/¥240 rates, also available individually with a subway one-day ticket. Specified disability-certificate holders and one carer enter free. Residents aged sixty-five or over in Fukuoka, Kitakyushu, Kumamoto or Kagoshima receive free entry with official age/address evidence.
The 16:30 cutoff and visiting conduct
The grounds open 09:00–17:00, with entry ending at 16:30. Monday closure shifts after a public holiday, and the year-end break is December 29–January 1. Do not feed animals or use flash photography. Strollers and wheelchairs can be used, while bicycles and recreational equipment are restricted. Animal displays and guided activities can change with conditions or weather. The zoo announces that this year’s public display of Leschenault’s rousette bats stopped from October 10, 2026. Its October 21 notice says the public debut of the newly arrived small-clawed otter Sakura is still to be decided; an arrival announcement does not guarantee a sighting.
Subway, buses and vehicle access
From Yakuin-odori Station exit two, walk about fifteen minutes or take a roughly six-minute bus ride from Yakuin-odori stop. Dobutsuen-mae serves the zoo; Jochi Fukuoka Chuko-mae suits the west gate, and Ozasa Danchi Seimon-mae the garden. Parking is ¥500 standard cars, ¥1,000 medium and ¥2,000 large vehicles. Medium/large vehicles require reservations and cannot park on specified busy dates, including spring/autumn Sundays and holidays, Golden Week and evening-opening days.
