From the castle bell to town life
Begin with the original castle bell celebrated by poet Wakayama Bokusui, accompanied by computer reconstructions and present-day views. Stone tools, pottery, a boat-shaped coffin, armour and a castle-town diorama trace changes from antiquity to modern times. Household, farming, forestry and fishing tools are arranged by where they were used, connecting the surrounding landscape with earlier livelihoods.
Life-size homes and a limited Noh-mask display
Life-size reconstructions of a pit dwelling, traditional house and apartment show how living spaces changed, with worksheets and activities offering another way to engage. From October 6 to November 8, 2026, eight Naito-family Noh masks are displayed free in the permanent gallery alongside performance photographs, allowing comparisons of their shapes and changing expressions.
Dates and admission for the Yasuhiko exhibition
The Yasuhiko Yoshikazu exhibition runs November 21, 2026–March 7, 2027: adults ¥1,000; high-school and university students ¥600 with ID; junior-high age and younger free. Part one ends December 20, part two runs December 26–January 31, and part three begins February 6, with some works changed. Disability-certificate holders and one companion enter free. The optional smartphone audio guide costs ¥700; bring earphones.
