城山公園北駐車場は、延岡城跡の石垣や城山の緑を歩いて訪ねる際の駐車拠点です。南側より早い7時に開き、駐車料金は無料。北側の登り口へ歩き、石垣や広場を巡って車へ戻る行程を、22時の閉場までに収めて利用できます。

北側から城山を歩く
北駐車場は延岡城跡・城山公園の北側にあり、城を訪ねる車を受け入れる駐車場です。公園は本丸・二の丸・三の丸からなる近世城郭の跡で、石垣や木々の間を歩いて回れます。北側の登り口周辺には別に公園利用者専用の4台分があり、そちらは9～17時。車を戻す時刻は、実際に停めた区画の利用時間に合わせます。
無料でも22時までに出庫
北駐車場の利用時間は7～22時で、料金はかかりません。終了後はチェーンなどで施錠され、翌日の開場まで出庫できなくなります。夕食や夜の外出まで車を置く場合も、城内から歩いて戻る時間を含めて22時までに出庫する行程にします。7時前の出発が必要な予定には、夜間施錠のあるこの駐車場を避ける判断ができます。
舗装と多目的トイレ
駐車場は舗装され、障がい者用駐車区画が2台分あります。北駐車場の多目的トイレは男女共用で、引き戸、温水洗浄機付き便座、お湯洗浄のオストメイト設備を備えます。城内の二の丸広場東側にも別の障がい者等用区画がありますが、車で入る場合は事前許可が必要です。場内駐車と城内への車両進入を分けて計画できます。
石垣と季節の花を組み合わせる
城山では高さ約19mの「千人殺しの石垣」が大きな見どころで、春には桜、秋から春にはヤブツバキの花を楽しめます。JR延岡駅と延岡ICから公園までは車で各約8分。徒歩で園内を巡るため、街歩きの靴と帰路の時間を整えて訪ねられます。車椅子で上部まで進む場合は、階段を避ける経路でも急坂があり介助が必要です。

Shiroyama Park North Parking provides a base for walking the castle stonework and wooded grounds. It opens at 07:00, earlier than the southern lot, and parking is free. Walk to the northern approach, explore the walls and open spaces, and return before the 22:00 gate closure.

Walk into the grounds from the north
The lot serves visitors entering the north side of Shiroyama Park, the remains of a castle with main, second and third enclosures. A walk can combine its surviving walls and wooded grounds. A separate set of four park-user spaces near the north climbing entrance operates 09:00–17:00. Plan your return for the hours of the actual area where you leave the car.
Leave by 22:00 even though parking is free
The main northern lot is free from 07:00 to 22:00. Chains or other locks prevent cars leaving after closing until the next opening. If combining the visit with dinner or an evening outing, allow time to walk back through the grounds and drive out by 22:00. An itinerary needing the car before 07:00 the following morning requires a parking option without this overnight gate restriction.
Paving and the multipurpose toilet
The paved lot includes two accessible parking spaces. Its unisex multipurpose toilet has a sliding door, a warm-water washing toilet seat and an ostomy-washing facility. Separate accessible spaces lie inside the grounds east of the second enclosure, but driving there requires advance permission. Choose between parking in the outer lot and arranging access farther into the castle grounds.
Combine the walls with seasonal flowers
The roughly nineteen-metre Sennin-goroshi stone wall is a principal sight, with cherry blossoms in spring and camellias from autumn into spring. The park is about eight minutes by car from either Nobeoka Station or Nobeoka IC. Allow time for walking around the grounds and returning to the car. Wheelchair routes towards the upper enclosures can include steep slopes even where stairs are avoided, so assistance is needed.
