本土に車を置いて島へ渡る
浦城港は延岡市浦城町にあり、市街から車で約30分です。島へ宿泊するIsland Base Shimamiも、乗船前に浦城の無料駐車場へ車を置く経路を案内しています。車から荷物を下ろし、乗船券を購入して船へ移動する時間を含めて港へ到着すると、船で渡った後の徒歩中心の行程へつなげられます。
高速艇とフェリーの到着港
高速艇は所要約10分で島の中央港に着き、降船後は中心街まで徒歩約5分です。フェリーは宇治港に着き、中心街へ徒歩約15分となります。島の中心部や宿へ向かう場合は、乗る船と島内の歩く距離を合わせて選べます。Shimamiの案内は高速艇指定で、中央港で降りて左へ進み約2分。フェリー到着港からの道順とは異なります。

往復の便と島での徒歩移動
船は定刻に出発し、天候や定期整備で欠航する場合があります。島で散策を始める前に帰りの便を決めておくと、港へ戻る時間を取りやすくなります。公共交通では延岡駅から宮野浦方面のバスで浦城港まで約30分。島内は徒歩が基本で、観光案内所では自転車なども扱っており、島の港町を歩く時間と乗り継ぎを一日の中へ組み込めます。

Leave the car on the mainland
Urashiro Port is in Urashiro-machi, around thirty minutes by car from central Nobeoka. Island Base Shimami also directs overnight guests to leave cars in the free parking before boarding. Allow time to unload luggage, buy tickets and reach the vessel, then continue with a walking-based island visit after the crossing. The car remains on the mainland while the passenger journey continues.
Fast boats and ferries use different ports
The fast boat takes about ten minutes to Chuo Port, followed by roughly five minutes on foot to the central settlement. The ferry arrives at Uji Port, around fifteen minutes on foot from the centre. Choose the service with the island destination and walking distance in mind. Shimami’s own directions specify the fast boat and a two-minute walk left from its arrival point, rather than the route from the ferry terminal.
Budget separately for parking and fares
Tax-inclusive passenger fares are ¥470 per adult and ¥240 per child on the fast boat, or ¥420 and ¥210 on the ferry. Buy tickets with cash at Urashiro. Taking a vehicle across uses the ferry’s separate vehicle tariff, which varies by length. When leaving the car on the mainland, budget instead for the group’s return passenger fares together with island food and accommodation.
Plan the return sailing and island walking
Boats depart on schedule and can be cancelled because of weather or planned maintenance. Choose a return sailing before setting off around the island so the walk back to the harbour fits the day. A bus towards Miyanoura takes about thirty minutes from Nobeoka Station to Urashiro. Island travel is mainly on foot, with bicycles among the visitor centre’s rental options, so allow time for both harbour-town exploration and the connections.
