Meals built around home-grown ingredients
Meals draw on the inn's rice and seasonal vegetables alongside other local ingredients. These include Hitomebore rice, soba handmade by the owner from Onikobe buckwheat, pickles and preserved plums. Not every ingredient is home-grown, but many dishes connect growing and preparation. Doburoku made with the inn's rice offers another expression of Osaki's rice-growing traditions.
Private time in the garden bath
The garden's outdoor bath, Meiso-no-Yu, looks onto fresh greenery, autumn leaves or snow. It is free and exclusively for overnight guests, with each use limited to forty minutes. It cannot be booked before arrival. Repeat use is allowed when the bath is not busy. The inn uses heated, continuously supplied simple hot-spring water; day bathing and overnight private-garden use have different access arrangements.
Relaxing in a ten-room inn
The inn has ten Japanese-style rooms and no self-catering facilities. A lounge with a wood-burning stove, newspapers and magazines, plus a wooden deck, provides places to pause between baths. Its meal-based style differs from a self-catering toji stay. Private-room day rest requires a reservation, giving visitors a separate option from a short bath-only visit.
Day bathing and station access
Day bathing operates 10:00–16:00, entry until 15:30, at ¥700 for adults and ¥300 for children. Kawatabi Onsen Station is fifteen minutes away on foot; transfers need advance contact. Free parking supports visits by car. Miyagi accommodation tax is ¥300 per person per night when the room-only pre-tax charge is at least ¥6,000; lower charges are exempt. Hot-spring tax is ordinarily ¥150 for lodging or ¥70 for day bathing, subject to exemptions.
