三井寺力餅本家の本店は、びわ湖浜大津駅近くにある和菓子店です。小餅を串に刺し、蜜と特製のきな粉をたっぷり絡める力餅を、持ち帰りと店内の喫茶で味わえます。路面電車が通る街角で一休みし、二階の大津絵展示を眺める立ち寄り先にもなります。

毎朝作り、注文後に仕上げる力餅
明治2年（1869）に現在地で商いを始めた店です。毎朝蒸した餅を小さく丸め、一串に三個ずつ刺し、注文後に蜜ときな粉を付けます。きな粉は青大豆と抹茶を合わせたもの。弁慶が三井寺の鐘を比叡山へ引きずったという伝説にちなんだ菓子を、浜大津の本店で味わえます。
お茶、抹茶、珈琲と一緒に
店内のおしながきでは、力餅とお茶が600円、抹茶との組み合わせが850円です。珈琲はアイス・ホットとも力餅一本付き650円。力餅一本を添えたソフトクリームは720円で、バニラ・抹茶・黒胡麻や季節の味を用意しています。菓子を購入するだけでなく、テーブル席で休憩する使い方もできます。
持ち帰りの本数と二日間の消費期限
家庭用パックは三本453円、五本756円など、箱入りは七本1,050円、十本1,450円などで、持ち帰りの表示は税込です。消費期限は製造から二日間。力餅には大豆を使い、ソフトクリームには小麦と乳成分を含みます。短い日持ちの菓子なので、旅先で食べる分と持ち帰る分を分けて選べます。
二階の大津絵と駅からの徒歩
本店二階の大津絵ギャラリーは入場無料です。修理したエレベーターは2025年2月から利用でき、車いすで二階へ上がれます。びわ湖浜大津駅から交差点を渡って徒歩約1分、大津港までは約3分。7～19時、年中無休で、店舗の駐車場はなく周辺の市営駐車場を利用します。

Made each morning and finished to order
The business began at this site in 1869. Mochi steamed each morning are shaped into small pieces, three to a skewer, and finished with syrup and kinako after ordering. The kinako blends green soybeans and matcha. The sweet’s name recalls the legend of Benkei dragging Miidera’s bell to Mount Hiei.
Pair mochi with tea, matcha or coffee
Café options include mochi with tea for ¥600 or with matcha for ¥850. Hot or iced coffee with one skewer costs ¥650. Soft serve with one mochi skewer costs ¥720, with vanilla, matcha, black sesame and seasonal flavours. Table seating makes the shop a place to pause as well as buy sweets.
Takeaway quantities and a two-day use-by period
Tax-inclusive takeaway choices include home packs of three skewers for ¥453 or five for ¥756, and boxes of seven for ¥1,050 or ten for ¥1,450. The use-by period is two days from manufacture. Mochi contains soy; soft serve contains wheat and milk. Choose quantities for eating during the trip and taking home with the short shelf life in mind.
Otsu-e upstairs and walking access
The second-floor Otsu-e gallery is free to enter. The repaired elevator has operated since February 2025, allowing wheelchair access upstairs. Walk across the junction from Biwako-hamaotsu Station in about one minute; Otsu Port is about three minutes away. The shop opens daily 07:00–19:00 and has no parking; nearby municipal parking is separate.
