Beside a plaza recreating the old moat, this lot provides a western approach to Imai-cho. It allows visitors to leave cars outside the narrow historic streets and continue on foot. Entry and exit windows differ, while buses follow separate hours, tariffs and reservation arrangements from ordinary cars.

A distinct parking area at the western entrance
Imai West Moat Plaza Parking is at 3-3-5 Imai-cho, on the town’s western edge. Imai Machinami Hiroba Parking beside Hanairaka, in the 2-chome area, is a different facility rather than another name for this lot. Approach the West Moat Plaza entrance and continue into town on foot. The preserved district spans roughly six hundred metres east–west and three hundred ten north–south, with narrow streets where passing cars is difficult. Leaving the vehicle at the edge allows a slower walk through streets that remain home to residents and businesses.
Free thirty minutes and short-stay steps
Ordinary cars exiting within thirty minutes enter free. A stay over thirty minutes and up to one hour costs ¥200; over one hour to ninety minutes ¥300; over ninety minutes to two hours ¥410; and more than two hours ¥520. The maximum is ¥520 per operating day and entry, distinct from leaving and re-entering. New charges begin at 7:00 the following day, rather than after a rolling twenty-four-hour period. Ordinary cars may enter 7:00–23:00 and exit at any time, so the entry deadline does not restrict a later departure.
Separate reservations and hours for buses
Alongside ordinary cars, the lot accepts medium buses with eleven to twenty-nine seats and large buses with thirty or more, by reservation through the Kashihara tourism association. Daily per-entry charges are ¥1,560 and ¥2,610 respectively. Bus entry, exit and use are limited to 9:00–16:30, with closure December 29–January 3. The car arrangements—7:00–23:00 entry, round-the-clock exit and daily operation—do not extend to buses. Bus fees are paid at the designated counter on arrival. Groups need to arrange historic-house visits separately from the parking reservation.
Combining the moat plaza and Moyori rest stop
The adjoining plaza recreates an approximately eleven-metre-wide moat from excavation results, illustrating drainage, flood storage and defensive functions around historic Imai-cho. Fujibakama flowers grow along its paths and may attract chestnut tiger butterflies in autumn. Moyori, the Imai gathering and rest house, was developed together with the western parking approach. It offers free rest space and local-history material from 9:00 to 17:00. Visiting the water-side plaza and timber rest building before returning to the car adds another aspect of the town beyond the interiors of merchant houses.
