Freshwater and coastal environments
Enter on the first floor of the new building; the main building has no admission entrance. Freshwater displays include local fish and a sulcata tortoise. The main building focuses on coastal life, with marine fish, sea turtles, penguins and nutria; sardines school in the Harima-nada tank. A passage joins the buildings, connecting the region’s freshwater and marine habitats.
Models, animal calls and the rooftop biotope
Cast fish models reveal shapes and scales, drawers introduce frog calls, and a life-size giant-salamander model provides an experience of its weight. These features encourage learning through several senses. On the main building’s roof, a shallow stream where children can play with fish adjoins a biotope recreating a Harima pond, adding a different waterside environment to the indoor tanks.
Admission and same-day re-entry
Adults pay ¥600 and primary/junior-high-school pupils ¥250. Group rates are ¥540/¥220 for thirty–ninety-nine people, ¥480/¥200 for one hundred–299, or ¥420/¥170 for three hundred+. Disability-certificate holders and carers receive free entry with the certificate or Mirairo ID. Eligible older city residents and specified children’s cards also qualify. Keep the ticket stub for same-day re-entry. There is no on-site restaurant.
Stations and planned parking works
Walk ten minutes from Sanyo Tegara Station or fifteen from JR Tegarayama-Heiwa-Koen. Routes 95/96 from Himeji Station’s south exit reach Nishinobusue/Himeji City Aquarium North, five minutes away. Nearby Tegarayama No. 1 multi-storey parking costs ¥200 per entry/day, with its third floor convenient for the aquarium. This garage is scheduled to close for payment-system works from mid-April to late June 2027, within a staggered project covering nine car parks.
