広島市現代美術館｜比治山のアートと千崎千恵夫展、11月3日は全館無料

広島市現代美術館は、比治山公園の緑の中で現代美術を鑑賞できる美術館です。2026年秋は、自然と人工を見つめる千崎千恵夫の特別展と、作品が重ねてきた時間に注目するコレクション展の会期です。市街地から丘へ上がり、美術鑑賞と公園の散策を組み合わせられます。

Set among the trees of Hijiyama Park, Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art combines art viewing with a hilltop outing. Autumn 2026 brings a Chieo Senzaki special exhibition exploring nature and human intervention, alongside a collection show about time carried by artworks. The journey up from the city can be paired with a park walk.

比治山の緑と現代美術を巡る

丘の上の美術館では、作品の形や素材だけでなく、展示空間や周囲の景色とあわせて現代美術にふれられます。広島やヒロシマに関わる表現を鑑賞し、市街地を歩くときとは違う視点で旅の時間を過ごせます。

展示の背景を知りたい方には、コレクションの解説を読める「ポケット学芸員」アプリがあります。日本語・英語・中国語簡体字・韓国語に対応し、作品の前で自分のペースで鑑賞を進められます。

自然と人工を見つめる千崎千恵夫展

特別展「千崎千恵夫 眼差しの奥にむかって」の会期は2026年10月24日～12月13日です。呉市出身の作家が1990年以後に制作した作品を中心に、最新作を含む約100点を展示。素材やかたちから、自然と人の営みの関係をたどります。

当日券は一般1,100円、大学生800円、高校生・65歳以上550円、中学生以下無料です。30名以上の団体は850円・600円・400円。特別展券で同時開催のコレクション展も観覧できます。

時間をテーマにしたコレクション展

「美術館の時間 チャプター2：時間の束」は2026年10月10日～2027年1月24日、A展示室での会期です。過去の表現への応答、作品が人や場所を移ってきた歩み、保存や修復などから、美術館と作品に積み重なる時間へ目を向けます。

コレクション展のみは一般350円、大学生250円、高校生・65歳以上150円、中学生以下無料です。30名以上は250円・150円・100円。毎月第3日曜の「ハロー！コレクションデー」はコレクション展が無料になります。

11月3日の無料日と月曜休館

開館は10～17時、最終入場16時30分です。通常は月曜休館で、月曜が祝休日又は8月6日に当たる場合は開館し、翌平日に休みます。2026年10月26日は休館、11月23日は祝日開館、24日は振替休館です。年末年始は12月27日～1月1日が休館となります。

11月3日の文化の日は全館無料です。通常日も、留学生や所定の手帳・受給者証を持つ方と介添者などには観覧料免除があります。受付で対象の証明書を提示してください。

車いす・子ども連れの鑑賞サービス

1階受付では車いすとベビーカーを無料で貸し出します。台数に限りがあり予約はできません。1階にはオストメイト対応の多目的トイレと授乳室があり、授乳室の利用は受付へ申し出てください。

土日祝休日には2歳以上の未就学児を対象に、1回2時間までの無料託児サービスがあります。利用の1週間前までに電話で申し込みます。移動や歩行が難しい方、車いす・ベビーカー利用者などのための敷地内駐車場は、事前に美術館へ相談してください。

丘へのアクセスと一方通行の園路

広島駅から路面電車5番「広島港」行きで比治山下へ向かい、坂道を約500m歩きます。広島駅から段原中央へバスで向かう場合は、比治山スカイウォーク経由で約700m。観光ループバスの現代美術館前からは約100mです。

一般車は周辺駐車場を利用します。比治山公園内は無料駐車場の案内があり、利用時間は9～19時。改修後のエントランス広場付近から遊具広場付近の園路は車両一方通行です。広島段原ショッピングセンターでは、美術館の入館証明を1階マックスバリュのサービスカウンターへ持参すると当日に限り3時間無料となります（同センター休業日を除く）。

At this hilltop museum, artworks can be approached through their materials and forms as well as the exhibition spaces and surrounding greenery. Art connected with Hiroshima offers another perspective within a city visit.

The Pocket Curator app offers information on collection works in Japanese, English, simplified Chinese and Korean. It provides a way to explore the background of works at your own pace.

Chieo Senzaki: nature and human intervention

“Chieo Senzaki: Towards the Depths of the Gaze” runs October 24–December 13, 2026. About 100 works, including recent pieces, focus on the Kure-born artist’s practice since 1990. Materials and forms invite attention to relationships between nature and human activity.

Same-day admission is ¥1,100 for adults, ¥800 for university students and ¥550 for high-school students or visitors aged 65+. Junior-high pupils and younger enter free. Groups of 30 or more pay ¥850, ¥600 and ¥400. The special-exhibition ticket also includes the concurrent collection show.

A collection exhibition about time

“Museum Time, Chapter 2: Bundles of Time” is scheduled in Gallery A from October 10, 2026 to January 24, 2027. Responses to earlier art, the movement of works between owners and places, and conservation draw attention to time accumulated in artworks and museums.

Collection-only tickets cost ¥350 for adults, ¥250 for university students and ¥150 for high-school students or ages 65+, with junior-high pupils and younger free. Groups of 30 or more pay ¥250, ¥150 and ¥100. The collection exhibition is free on the third Sunday of each month for Hello! Collection Day.

Culture Day and closing dates

Hours are 10:00–17:00 with last entry at 16:30. Normally closed Mondays, the museum opens when Monday is a public holiday or August 6 and closes the next weekday instead. It is closed October 26, 2026, opens on holiday November 23 and closes November 24. The year-end closure is December 27–January 1.

All exhibitions are free on Culture Day, November 3. On ordinary dates, exemptions also cover international students and holders of specified certificates or medical-recipient documentation and their attendants. Show the relevant proof at reception.

Services for families and access needs

Wheelchairs and pushchairs can be borrowed free at first-floor reception, subject to availability and without reservations. The first floor also has an accessible toilet with ostomate facilities and a baby-care room; ask reception to use the latter.

Free childcare for preschool children aged two or older is offered on weekends and public holidays for up to two hours per use, with telephone booking at least one week ahead. Visitors with mobility needs, including wheelchair or pushchair users, should contact the museum in advance about dedicated on-site parking.

Getting uphill and the one-way park road

From Hiroshima Station, take tram 5 towards Hiroshima Port to Hijiyama-shita, then walk about 500 m uphill. A bus to Danbara-chuo connects with an approximately 700 m route via Hijiyama Skywalk. The sightseeing loop-bus stop at the museum is about 100 m away.

General motorists use surrounding parking. The museum lists free park parking available 9:00–19:00. The improved road between the entrance plaza and playground area is one-way for vehicles. At Hiroshima Danbara Shopping Center, take the museum’s admission certificate to the first-floor MaxValu service counter for three hours’ free parking that day, except when the shopping center is closed.
