Indoor and outdoor baths facing the mountains
There are indoor baths with large windows and an outdoor rock bath looking towards Mount Okue. The spring emerges at around 30°C and is heated for bathing. The surrounding stream, trees and changing seasons add to the mountain setting. Washbasins and hair dryers are provided in the changing area.
Bath admission and the wood-fired sauna
Bath admission is ¥520 for junior-high age and over, ¥310 for primary pupils and free for preschoolers. Separate men’s and women’s wood-fired saunas cost ¥2,520 including bathing, from around 11:00 with last reception at 18:00; request access when checking in. Finnish-style wood stoves, three-tier benches, granite sauna stones, cold baths and outdoor deck chairs form the sauna experience.
What to bring and the dining room
Bring a towel or buy one: rentals are unavailable. White towels cost ¥330 and quick-drying MOKU towels ¥1,320. Leave shoes at the entrance, check in and put valuables in a coin locker. Kikori Shokudo, in the octagonal tower, serves options such as the ¥1,300 lunch-box set and ¥650 Chinese-style sticky-rice parcel meal. Order at reception and use the dining tables or tatami rest area.
Two approaches and the return drive
Open 10:00–20:00, closed Thursdays. Route 207 takes about fifty minutes from town, with single-vehicle-width sections and passing places. Mobile reception weakens deeper in the mountains. The alternative via Route 326 takes somewhat longer but offers more road width. Arriving in daylight gives time to understand the approach before relaxing in the baths.
