布引風の高原は、湖南町赤津から山道を登り、風車と畑、猪苗代湖や磐梯山の眺めを楽しむ場所です。風力発電の設備が立つ農地の風景を、散策路や駐車場から眺められます。市街地から距離があるため、湖畔や湖南の食事と合わせ、明るいうちに往復するドライブとして組み込みやすい目的地です。

湖の南の高原から風車を眺める
高原の標高は約1,000m。33基の大きな風車が立ち、天候に恵まれると磐梯山と猪苗代湖まで見渡せます。畑が広がる地形と風車の列が、湖畔とは異なる風景を作っています。散策では眺める方向を変えながら、農地と発電設備のある高原を歩けます。畑は農業のための場所なので、見学は通行できる道や展望の場所から楽しみ、作物の区画へ踏み込みません。
夏の花の時期と2026年の状況
ヒマワリの例年の見頃は8月中旬～9月上旬で、夏の景観として知られています。2026年はシカの食害により中心となる畑が大きな被害を受け、例年のような花畑の景観とは異なる状況です。季節の花と、通年の地形や風車、晴天時の遠景は、それぞれ楽しむ対象が違います。秋の行程には湖や山並み、農地の風景を組み合わせ、花の季節の訪問とは違う高原の表情を眺められます。
入口道路の冬季閉鎖と山道
入口は積雪期に通行止めとなり、例年の期間は12月1日～4月27日です。冬は山頂側へ車で入る行程を組めません。登りの道路は道幅が狭い箇所があり、花の時期には車が集中して渋滞する場合もあります。高原の駐車場まで途中にトイレがないため、湖畔や町内で休憩を済ませてから向かうと移動しやすくなります。山道の走行時間も含め、湖南の他の訪問先との間に余裕を持たせられます。
駐車場と湖南方面のドライブ
所在地は湖南町赤津字馬頭原、駐車場は普通車150台・バス7台です。郡山駅から車約90分、郡山IC約80分、郡山南・郡山中央スマートIC各約70分、磐梯熱海IC約60分が目安。湖南町は郡山市内ですが、市街地と同じ短い移動圏ではありません。猪苗代湖の南岸を巡る途中に高原への往復を加え、食事や次の目的地の時刻も合わせて訪問順を決められます。
郡山市で合わせて訪れる施設
駅前と文化施設のある市街地、西田の工房、温泉地や郊外の公園を、食事・入浴・駐車の利用時間に合わせて組み合わせられます。
Reach Nunobiki Kaze no Kogen by climbing from Akatsu in Konan to a landscape of wind turbines, fields, Lake Inawashiro and Mount Bandai. Paths and the parking area offer views across working agricultural land and energy infrastructure. Its distance from central Koriyama makes it suited to a daylight drive combined with lakeside stops and food in Konan.

Wind turbines on the plateau south of the lake
At roughly 1,000 metres, thirty-three large turbines rise above the plateau. Clear weather opens views towards Mount Bandai and Lake Inawashiro. Fields and lines of turbines create a landscape distinct from the lakeshore below. Walk along available paths and change viewing direction to appreciate the working farmland and energy installations. The fields are agricultural plots: use the roads and viewing areas rather than walking into crops.
Summer flowers and the 2026 growing season
Sunflowers normally peak from mid-August to early September, forming the plateau’s familiar summer scene. In 2026, deer caused extensive damage to the main fields, so their appearance differed from the usual flower landscape. Seasonal blooms, the permanent landform and turbines, and distant views in clear weather offer different attractions. An autumn drive can focus on the lake, mountain outline and fields rather than the flower-season scene.
Winter closure and the mountain approach
Snow closes the approach, normally December 1–April 27, so winter itineraries cannot assume a drive up to the plateau. Parts of the mountain road are narrow, and the flower season can bring queues and concentrated traffic. There are no toilets on the ascent before the plateau car park; a break in town or by the lake before climbing helps with the journey. Include the mountain-road travel time when combining it with other Konan stops.
Parking and combining a Konan drive
The site is in Bato-hara, Akatsu, with parking for 150 cars and 7 buses. Approximate drives are ninety minutes from Koriyama Station, eighty from Koriyama IC, seventy from Koriyama-Minami or Koriyama-Chuo Smart IC, and sixty from Bandai-Atami IC. Konan is part of Koriyama but lies well beyond a short city-centre transfer. Add the plateau return drive to a southern Lake Inawashiro itinerary, arranging meals and the next destination around the extra travel.
