Experience a Meiji-era inn by staying overnight
Traditionally dated to 1879, the building survives with later Meiji additions and Showa-era alterations. Its two-storey timber structure has metal roofing and offset wings, placing the entrance and reception towards the street and guest rooms farther back. It became a nationally registered tangible cultural property on February 23, 2012. During a stay, notice the glass carrying the inn’s name and its balustrades, experiencing a historic building still used as accommodation.
Choose meals or a room-only stay
Check-in is 15:00, checkout 10:00 and the curfew 01:00. Dinner is served within 17:00–21:00 and breakfast 07:00–09:00. Room-only and breakfast-only arrangements suit travellers planning dinner in town. Provisions include hand and bath towels, yukata, toothbrushes and razors; shampoo and soap are supplied in the bathing area or rooms with private bath and toilet. Wireless internet is available inside the inn.
Family or group reservations and payment
Children are welcome, and the inn describes arrangements for groups of around forty. Select the room and meal requirements when booking to fit the itinerary. Visa and Mastercard are accepted. The standard cancellation charge is fifty per cent the day before arrival and one hundred per cent on arrival day. This registered property remains a working inn, so plan to appreciate it through a stay rather than as an unrestricted public museum. Standard accommodation tax is ¥200 per person per night.
Arrival from Hirosaki Station and walks in town
At 55 Mototera-machi, the inn is about five minutes by taxi from Hirosaki Station. Free parking accommodates around ten cars and two large buses. Its position suits walks in Hirosaki Park and dinner in the restaurant district, around five minutes away on foot. Return around the meal schedule and curfew after exploring parks or architecture. For driving days, distinguish the inn’s parking from the separate arrangements at attractions around town.
More places for a Hirosaki itinerary
Combine the station area and castle-town walks with trips to Mount Iwaki’s foothills and Takaoka-no-Mori, arranging the order around meals and bathing sessions.
