Tsubakikan carries on a long innkeeping tradition in Asamushi Onsen. Artist Munakata Shiko stayed here with his family, and the inn combines artworks, gardens and seasonal meals with hot-spring bathing. Garden views and time spent inside the ryokan shape the experience.

棟方志功の作品と庭園のある宿

椿館では、棟方志功が滞在した宿ならではの作品を館内のギャラリーで紹介しています。書や倭画のほか、客室にも作品の小品を配し、湯上がりに館内を歩く時間が楽しみになります。作品鑑賞を目的に日帰りで訪れる場合の入場条件は宿へ確認してください。

客室には庭を望む和室や和洋室があり、椿にちなんだ名前が付いています。ベッドを備える部屋や茶室を備えた部屋もあるため、寝具の好みや同行者に合わせて部屋の仕様を選びます。

九つの源泉と入浴

大浴場には9本の自家源泉から湯を引いており、泉質は単純温泉です。庭木に囲まれた露天風呂やサウナも備え、館内の入浴と庭の眺めを組み合わせて過ごせます。

椿の箱で味わう食事

食事処「ダイニング椿の箱」では、青森の海・里・山の食材を取り入れた食事を用意しています。宿の案内では、料理を箱に盛り込む膳や、黒毛和牛の焼きしゃぶなどを紹介。献立は季節や選ぶ宿泊プランで変わります。

朝食は一人用の釜で炊く青森県産米に、鮭やすじこ、しじみ汁などを組み合わせる案内です。食事付きか素泊まりか、子供の食事と寝具を付けるかまで、予約時に選んだ内容を確かめておくと滞在の準備がしやすくなります。

駅・水族館との送迎と駐車

浅虫温泉駅と浅虫水族館から宿への送迎が案内されています。利用時間は宿泊当日の15時～19時30分、翌日の7時～10時で、事前予約または到着時の連絡が必要です。列車の到着や水族館からの移動を、この時間帯に合わせて組み立てます。

車の場合は青森東ICから約15分、無料駐車場は35台の先着順です。チェックインは通常15時から、チェックアウトは10時。部屋・食事・送迎をまとめて確認すると、浅虫で過ごす時間に余裕を持たせられます。

Artworks and gardens within the ryokan

The inn’s gallery introduces works connected with Munakata Shiko’s stays, including calligraphy and Yamato-e paintings. Smaller works are also displayed in guest rooms, adding interest to a walk through the building after bathing. Visitors coming only to see the art should confirm day-visit admission arrangements with the inn.

Japanese-style and Japanese-Western rooms overlook the garden and carry names associated with camellias. Some have beds, while another category includes a tea room; select the room’s facilities to suit bedding preferences and travelling companions.

Bathing from nine spring sources

The communal baths are supplied by nine private springs, classified as simple thermal water. An outdoor bath surrounded by garden trees and a sauna offer further ways to spend time bathing and enjoying the setting.

Meals at Tsubaki no Hako

Dining Tsubaki no Hako serves meals using ingredients from Aomori’s seas, countryside and mountains. The inn introduces boxed meal presentations and dishes such as grilled shabu-shabu-style Japanese black beef. Menus vary with the season and accommodation package.

The breakfast description pairs Aomori rice cooked in individual pots with items such as salmon, salmon roe and shijimi clam soup. Confirm whether the booking includes meals and what is provided for children’s meals and bedding when preparing for the stay.

Station and aquarium transfers, and parking

Transfers are offered between the inn and Asamushi-Onsen Station or Asamushi Aquarium. Service hours are 15:00–19:30 on the arrival day and 07:00–10:00 the following day, with advance booking or contact on arrival required. Match train arrivals and aquarium visits to these windows.

By car, the inn is about 15 minutes from Aomori-Higashi Interchange. Its 35 free parking spaces are allocated on arrival. Standard check-in begins at 15:00 and check-out is at 10:00; considering room, meal and transfer arrangements together leaves more time to enjoy Asamushi.
