Tatami and a hearth beside Takaoka-no-Mori
The café adapted a house described as eighty years old, retaining a calm setting with tatami and a hearth. It opened in November 2018 and stands on the near right as you face Takateru Shrine’s gate. Local vegetables and Aomori fruit appear across regional soup meals, curries and cakes. It adds a meal in the area to a visit otherwise centred on the shrine or history museum.
Kenoshiru meals, curry and tax-exclusive prices
All menu prices exclude tax. The kenoshiru meal is ¥1,680, with a drink ¥2,100 or dessert ¥2,600; the children’s version is ¥1,000. Other choices include chicken curry ¥1,180, vegetable keema ¥1,280, chicken doria ¥1,280 and mushroom-and-mountain-vegetable soba ¥1,000. A larger rice serving adds ¥80, while a smaller one deducts ¥80. Choose the set and portion with the additional tax in mind.
Coffee, Mount Iwaki honey and cakes
Hand-drip coffee costs ¥650 before tax. Drinks include lemonade or lemon squash using Mount Iwaki acacia honey at ¥800, apple juice ¥700 and homemade non-alcoholic koji amazake ¥600. Cakes include gateau chocolat or cheesecake at ¥600 and apple pie at ¥550, with a drink-and-cake set at ¥1,000. All prices exclude tax; cakes may sell out or vary seasonally. Coffee and eligible sweets are also available to take away.
Monday closures, bus access and eight parking spaces
Opening is 11:00–17:00, last order 16:30. Tuesdays and the first and third Mondays close, with occasional extra closures. There are twenty-two seats and eight parking spaces. At 2-2 Shishizawa in Takaoka, it is around thirty minutes by car from central Hirosaki, immediately beside Takaoka stop on the Karekitai-bound bus via Takaoka. The museum’s third-Monday closure differs from the café’s first/third-Monday pattern, so align both schedules when combining them.
More places for a Hirosaki itinerary
Combine the station area and castle-town walks with trips to Mount Iwaki’s foothills and Takaoka-no-Mori, arranging the order around meals and bathing sessions.
