Tokuchan’s main shop in Kuwano 1-chome centres on handmade noodles and soy-sauce ramen. Its Asakusa-born founder first operated a café in Koriyama, then introduced the ramen he had developed before converting the business into a noodle shop. Choices extend from the original soy bowl to wonton, miso and salt versions, providing a meal stop while visiting the Kaiseizan area by car.

From a café to a ramen shop
The founder moved to Koriyama in 1981 and opened Café Tokuko at this address. After developing a soy seasoning, he added ramen to the menu in March 1993 and converted the business to Tokuchan Ramen in 1995. The main shop remains at 1-25-9 Kuwano. Alongside its original soy bowl, choices include additional chashu pork or thin handmade wontons.
Matured noodles and broth preparation
Noodles are made early in the morning using a proprietary flour blend, then rested for two to three days. The broth uses pork leg bones, three types of regional chicken, Hidaka kelp and dried small fish among its ingredients, followed by slow cooking and resting. The soy seasoning is also simmered with seafood ingredients. These separately prepared elements come together in the finished bowl.
Miso, salt and dipping-noodle choices
Miso bowls blend miso from areas including Hokkaido, Sendai, Hida-Takayama and Kyoto, with plain, white-spring-onion and red-spring-onion versions. The salt bowl uses sun-dried salt. Dipping noodles are offered with seared chashu in rich soy or miso sauce. Side dishes include shumai, five-piece fried gyoza, rice and half rice. Additions include nori, spring onion, seasoned egg, bamboo shoots, chashu and wontons.
Sell-outs, upcoming closure and parking
Hours are 11:00–19:00, but service finishes when noodles or soup run out. Tuesdays are closed; a Tuesday public holiday opens and the following day closes. The main shop also closes October 20–21, 2026. Driving takes about seven minutes from Koriyama Station, ten from Koriyama IC and fifteen from Koriyama-Minami IC. Additional parking is available when the main lot is full; obtain staff directions rather than choosing an unrelated space. This address is separate from the Sukagawa branch.
