Former Nozaki Residence belonged to a family whose wealth came from salt fields and land reclamation. The long gate, reception rooms and storehouse exhibits introduce Kojima industry and merchant life. A salt-making workshop on the grounds adds a practical perspective to exploring the buildings and the work that supported them.

Follow the gate, reception rooms and storehouses
The nationally designated residence was built by Buzaemon Nozaki, who developed the salt-making business. Seven stone steps lead to a gate about twenty-four metres long, while the main house extends roughly forty-two metres through nine reception rooms. Two of six storehouses serve as exhibition buildings. Domestic tools and salt displays connect the grand reception spaces with the work and daily routines supporting the household.
Book the salt workshop separately one week ahead
Museum staff assist with a traditional salt-making process in the on-site workshop building. Participants must be primary-school age or older; capacity is fifty, with starts at 10:00 and 14:00. Telephone booking is required at least a week ahead. The workshop has no fee, while normal admission remains separate. Sessions may be unavailable in late February–early March or during museum events. Arrange the building visit around the reserved session time.
Use pupil, certificate and group admission arrangements
Normal admission is ¥500 for high-school age and adults, ¥300 primary/junior-high, with younger children free. Primary through high-school pupils enter free on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. An eligible disability certificate gives the holder and one companion twenty percent off; concessions cannot be combined. Groups of thirty or more book ahead and pay ¥400 adults/¥240 primary-junior-high. Closures are Mondays, shifted after a Monday holiday, and December 25–January 1. School-class visits have a separate application scheme.
Allow for steps, current works and arrival time
Work beginning in fiscal 2026 closes the rear cliff-side area and changes the scenery, with completion planned in 2037. Explore the open buildings and exhibits within those current limits. At 1-11-19 Kojima Ajino, the residence is roughly one kilometre or twenty-five minutes on foot from Kojima Station, or ten minutes by car from Kojima interchange. Free parking holds thirty-six cars and five coaches. Allow for admission by 16:30 and gates closing at 17:00.
