Orchards and a hill overlooking the growing region
Around eighty varieties and 2,300 apple trees invite comparison as you walk through the orchard. Suribachiyama, an artificial hill eighty-three metres above sea level, offers views towards Mount Iwaki and the Shirakami mountains. Combine orchard paths with the viewpoint. A small cider workshop also connects the growing landscape with the region’s apple-processing culture.
A farmhouse and free Tsugaru folk storytelling
The thatched former Osanai house dates to 1863 and is a city-designated cultural property. See its hearth, veranda, farm tools and neputa sliding-door paintings by Donryu Miura. Free Tsugaru folk storytelling runs on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays April–November, 11:00–12:00 and 13:00–14:00. Displays about varieties and production add context to the outdoor walk.
Plan around separate facility and parking hours
Entry is free and facilities open 09:00–17:00; walking in the grounds is possible outside those hours. The 460-space car park operates 08:00–18:00 without charge and accommodates large buses, although entrances may be closed. Temporary closures can occur despite the usual year-round opening. Groups must book ahead, using separate forms for general and educational visits.
Address and checks before visiting
Check the official schedule for temporary displays and activities before including them in your visit. The address is 125 Terasawa in Shimizutomita. Combine a walk among the apple varieties with a break at the café terrace and a visit to the hill overlooking Mount Iwaki.
More places for a Hirosaki itinerary
Combine the station area and castle-town walks with trips to Mount Iwaki’s foothills and Takaoka-no-Mori, arranging the order around meals and bathing sessions.
