Visit the main shrine and Ichimokuren Shrine
The main Tado Shrine honours Amatsuhikone-no-Mikoto, while the separate Ichimokuren Shrine honours Ame-no-Mahitotsu-no-Mikoto. The location below Mount Tado reflects an older belief in the mountain as a divine dwelling. Connections with Ise Jingu brought the name Kita-Ise Daijingu. Donations from Kuwana lord Honda Tadakatsu supported rebuilding in the early Edo period. Explore the main, separate and subsidiary shrines within today’s grounds.
The white-horse tradition and shrine buildings
The white-horse tradition honours the horse as a messenger carrying people’s wishes to the deities. The grounds include a sacred-horse stable and a kagura hall used for prayers and mikagura. Alongside horse-related festivals, people visit for family wellbeing, traffic safety and Shichi-Go-San. Ordinary worship and receiving a formal prayer have different reception and offering arrangements.
Prayer reception from 9:00 and individual offerings from ¥5,000
Ordinary worship is free. Formal prayers are accepted on arrival 9:00–16:30 without advance reservation. Offerings start at ¥5,000 for individuals or ¥10,000 for organisations and groups. More elaborate mikagura, including shrine-maiden dance, starts at ¥7,000/¥20,000 respectively. Allow arrival before the reception cutoff when adding a formal prayer to a walk around the grounds.
From Tado Station and traffic controls on November 23
The address is 1681 Tado, Tadocho. Tado Station is about 1.5 km away, around twenty minutes on foot, with community-bus or taxi options. Driving takes about ten minutes from Kuwana-Higashi IC or fifteen from Yatomi IC. On November 23, 2026, the Yabusame Festival and TADO Market bring local traffic controls and limited parking. Prayer reception is scheduled to continue normally 9:00–16:30 that day; rail travel offers an alternative.
Combine Kuwana visits, dining and a stay
Combine worship in Tado with a hot-spring stay, travelling separately for sweets or Oyamada activities. Municipal parking exemptions at Oyamada apply to business at designated public facilities; worship or dining elsewhere is ordinary paid use.
