Discover regional painting, photography and prints
The museum opened in 1983 and was refurbished in 2013. Its collections include paintings by Katsuta Koda and Kanji Maeta, photographs by Shoji Ueda and Takeji Iwamiya, and prints by Okiie Hashimoto and Tomisaburo Hasegawa. Exhibitions explore regional artists and selections from the holdings at different times. A collection name does not guarantee that every artist’s work is on display; the experience follows the selection presented during the exhibition you attend.
Choose between collection shows and the free prefectural show
Collection shows cost ¥330, or ¥270 for groups of at least fifteen. Students through university, visitors aged seventy or above, and eligible disabled visitors with one accompanying person enter free with proof. Collection shows are not continuous, and special shows set separate prices. The seventieth Tottori Prefectural Art Exhibition runs October 24–November 1, 2026, 10:00–18:00, free and open daily. Photography is permitted for that show except where individual works carry a prohibition mark.
Accessibility and gallery conditions
Ordinary hours are 10:00–18:00, closing Wednesdays unless a public holiday and December 29–January 3. An elevator links both floors; facilities include a nursing room, accessible toilet with changing table, and loan wheelchairs, pushchairs and walking-support carts. Food and drink are not allowed in galleries or the hall, and large bags belong in lockers. Pets are excluded apart from assistance dogs. Use the café as a separate place for refreshments before or after viewing the exhibition.
City Hall parking and the route from the station
The address is 12 Nakamachi, roughly one kilometre or fifteen minutes on foot from Yonago Station. Use Shiyakusho-mae buses other than the Matsue service; driving from Yonago Interchange takes about twenty minutes. Present a City Hall paid-parking ticket at reception for two hours free. Beside the building are two disability bays and two further accessible-permit bays. When adding a city-centre meal, fit parking to the validation period and the next destination rather than assuming unlimited free parking.
