Station No. 2 municipal parking offers a starting point for walking through central Tanabe after arriving by car. It serves the station, Ajikoji dining area and nearby shopping streets, combining errands, meals and exploration. Short drop-offs or pickups benefit from thirty free minutes, while a daytime cap supports a longer stay.

Starting a town visit from No. 2 parking
No. 2 parking stands at 1-27 Minato, separately from the other station-front car park at 1-13. After leaving a car, walk into the station-side shopping streets or Ajikoji dining district. Vehicle parking uses automatic payment and operates twenty-four hours throughout the year. It supports a short pickup or drop-off as well as several hours exploring town. It can also be a meeting point for a party arriving by different transport modes before beginning local visits.
Thirty free minutes and the daytime cap
Ordinary vehicles receive thirty free minutes, followed by ¥100 per additional thirty minutes, rounding any incomplete period up. On the standard tariff, one hour costs ¥100 and ninety minutes ¥200. A ¥500 cap applies during 06:00–18:00. This is a daytime time-band cap rather than ¥500 for twenty-four hours after entry, so include time after 18:00 when planning a later departure. Fit the expected charge to the end of a meal or town walk.
Restaurant tickets and separate bicycle arrangements
Ginchiro Honten provides a one-hour free ticket for this No. 2 car park. Diners can obtain the ticket matching the place actually used; Atago Motor Pool tickets apply to a different facility. Bicycle and motorcycle parking also exists at 1-27 Minato, but its reception hours are separate from twenty-four-hour car access. Drivers should use the vehicle entrance and payment system, rather than applying the bicycle facility’s staffed-counter hours to a car visit.
Walkable stops and onward mountain travel
Published walks from the station are around five minutes to Tokei or Aritoshi shrines, ten to Ogigahama or Kinan Cultural Hall, and twenty to Kozanji. Add the walk from the parking position to those station-based estimates. Scheduled buses link Kii-Tanabe Station with Takijiri, Chikatsuyu and Hongu, or Kamiakizu and Ryujin. Use the station area for a local walking visit or before travelling farther into the mountains, allowing parking time through the return when taking an onward bus journey.
Other stops to combine within Tanabe
Tanabe extends from its coastal centre into the mountain districts of Ryujin, Nakahechi, Oto and Hongu. Fit the next stop around meal-order deadlines and accommodation arrival, allowing time for both road travel and any walking on the Kumano Kodo. Choose parking according to the facility or district visited and its use conditions.
