This municipal car park provides a base for walking along Ogigahama’s seafront. Besides summer swimming, it serves coastal walks and nearby cultural facilities. Short ordinary-car stays and large vehicles follow different charging arrangements, so consider both vehicle height and time spent when choosing it.
At a glance
| Hours | 24 hours, year-round |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 406 ordinary-vehicle spaces including six accessible and two kei spaces; large vehicles accepted |
| Below 2.6 metres | One free hour, then ¥100 per hour or part thereof |
| At least 2.6 metres | Large-vehicle rate ¥500 per hour or part thereof |
Parking beside Ogigahama for a seafront walk
Created alongside the coast’s redevelopment, the car park has operated since April 2003. Its 406 ordinary-vehicle spaces include six accessible bays and two reserved for kei cars; buses and other large vehicles are also accepted. It serves both a short seaside pause and a longer visit to facilities such as the cultural hall. The shore’s proximity to central Tanabe allows a walk after parking to fit into time spent exploring the town rather than requiring a separate distant excursion.
Ordinary-vehicle charging after the free hour
A vehicle below 2.6 metres high uses the ordinary category, with the first hour free. After that, every additional hour costs ¥100, and an incomplete hour counts as a full one. For example, ninety minutes costs ¥100 and two and a half hours ¥200. This supports estimating the cost of a short beach walk or a longer stay involving a meal or event. Twenty-four-hour operation also accommodates early-morning coastal walks and returning from evening activities.
The large-vehicle category starts at 2.6 metres
Vehicles at least 2.6 metres high fall in the large-vehicle category at ¥500 per hour or part thereof. The ordinary category’s first free hour does not apply. For a tall vehicle, classification depends on actual height rather than how many passengers it carries. Park within marked spaces and follow on-site directions, leaving accessible and kei-only bays for appropriate users. The layout serves a seafront visited on foot as well as the vehicles arriving and departing.
Coastal facilities and seasonal use
The summer bathing beach operated July 1–August 31 in 2026. Changing rooms and swimming-related services are seasonal, while coastal scenery and walks provide reasons to visit later in the year. Barbecues and camping are prohibited on the lawn and bathing beach. For Kinan Cultural Hall or nearby town visits, allow parking time through the end of the event. Choose the parking position and the part of the shore to explore when planning a seafront stop.
Other stops to combine within Tanabe
Tanabe extends from its coastal centre into the mountain districts of Ryujin, Nakahechi, Oto and Hongu. Fit the next stop around meal-order deadlines and accommodation arrival, allowing time for both road travel and any walking on the Kumano Kodo. Choose parking according to the facility or district visited and its use conditions.
