Chichibu Matsuri Kaikan introduces the decoration and atmosphere of the Night Festival throughout the year. Float displays combine with light, sound and three-dimensional film to explain a tradition that is less visible during an ordinary town walk. A three-minute walk from Chichibu Station makes the museum an accessible addition to a central-city itinerary.

Float displays brought to life with light and sound
The ground floor contains floats built for this museum after the yatai and kasaboko traditions of the Night Festival. Look closely at their curtains and carved decoration before watching projection mapping evoke the festival night. A three-dimensional film lasting about fourteen and a half minutes introduces Chichibu festivals, while upstairs materials provide historical and religious context for what appears in the main display.
Distinguish admission prices from reservation rules
Individual admission is ¥500 for adults and ¥250 for primary and junior-high pupils. Groups of 25 or more pay ¥450 and ¥200 respectively. Advance booking, however, begins at ten visitors and also applies to bus parking, including groups too small for the discount. Eligible certificate holders and one carer enter free; Mirairo ID can also be used to present the required disability information.
October festival music and the museum shop
On October 18, 2026, Chichibu yatai-bayashi festival music performances by Shinoha Shachu are scheduled at 11:30, 13:30 and 14:30, adding live performers to the ordinary audiovisual visit. The shop lies inside the paid admission area and sells miniature floats and festival-related goods. Shop purchases require cash. Pets cannot enter the museum; assistance dogs are admitted. A performance visit and an ordinary exhibition visit therefore offer somewhat different experiences.
Seasonal hours and the walk from the stations
Opening is 09:00–17:00 in April–November and 10:00–17:00 in December–March, with final admission at 16:30 year-round. Closures are fourth/fifth Tuesdays in March–November, every Tuesday in December–February, and December 29–January 1; public holidays open. December arrangements may change for the Night Festival. Walk three minutes from Chichibu Station or fifteen from Seibu-Chichibu, combining the galleries with streets around Chichibu Shrine.
Other stops to combine within Chichibu
Central sightseeing, stops in Yoshida or Arakawa, and mountain roads towards Otaki or Mitsumine require different travel times. Fit meal-order deadlines and accommodation arrival around the next stop by car or railway. Choose related parking according to its own facility or area and the applicable use conditions.
