道の駅大滝温泉の駐車場は、国道140号を大滝や三峰、山梨方面へ走る途中の休憩に使える施設です。温泉、食事処、資料館、コンビニがある一方、それぞれに時間と休業日が設定されています。夜間の道路休憩と、日中の入浴や見学を同じ営業時間として扱わず利用できます。

国道百四十号の山間部で止まる
普通車83台、障がい者用六台の区画があります。休憩駐車場とトイレは24時間無料で、山道を走る途中で休めます。住所は大滝4277-2で、同じ敷地内の歴史民俗資料館は4277-4です。無料の停車と有料の施設利用は別の仕組み。車内で疲れを取る休憩に、食事、入浴、買物のうち必要なものを加える立ち寄りとして利用できます。
入浴するなら季節と木曜を確認する
遊湯館は4～11月10～20時、12～3月10～19時です。木曜休館ですが祝日の木曜は営業し、振替休館はありません。一般の入浴は中学生以上が平日800円、土日祝・特定日900円、小学生400円・500円、未就学児200円・300円です。無料駐車は入浴料を含まず、入浴する人ごとに料金が必要。夜に着く場合は、冬季は一時間早い終了を基準にできます。
コンビニ、食堂と資料館の時間差
ファミリーマートは6～22時で、秩父の特産品も扱います。郷路館の食堂は11～16時、売店10～16時、木曜定休。大滝歴史民俗資料館は9～17時、入館16時30分までの有料施設で、木曜の祝日扱いと年末休館は温泉とは別です。駐車ができても全ての屋内施設が開くわけではないため、早朝はコンビニ、日中は食事や見学など目的に合わせられます。
山梨側と三峰側へ向かう休憩に
道の駅あらかわから車約20分、ここから滝沢ダムや雷電廿六木橋方面は約10分、中津峡方面は約20分です。三峯神社への山道は混雑により時間が延びるので、駐車場や道路の状況を見ながら出発を選べます。公共の休憩区画は仮眠と宿泊利用を区別する場所で、泊まる旅には別の宿を利用します。資料館の午後の締切や冬の入浴終了と合わせ、山間の移動に余裕を取れます。
秩父市内で組み合わせる訪問先
市街の見学、吉田・荒川の立ち寄り、大滝や三峰の山道では移動に必要な時間が異なります。食事の注文締切と宿への到着時間を合わせ、関連する施設へ車や鉄道で続く行程を組めます。駐車場はそれぞれの施設・地域での利用条件に合わせて選べます。
Michi-no-Eki Otaki Onsen offers a break while driving Route 140 towards Otaki, Mitsumine or Yamanashi. A bathhouse, restaurant, museum and convenience store share the complex but follow different schedules. Overnight road-rest access therefore does not mean the indoor facilities remain open; choose a simple driving break or a longer daytime visit according to the intended activity.

A rest stop on the mountain section of Route 140
Parking provides 83 ordinary-car spaces and six accessible spaces. The rest area and toilets are free around the clock, offering a break during mountain driving. Its address is 4277-2 Otaki, while the local-history museum within the same complex is 4277-4. Free parking and paid indoor activities are separate arrangements. A visit can begin with rest from driving and add a meal, bath or shopping according to need and available opening hours.
Bathing depends on season and the Thursday schedule
Yuyukan opens 10:00–20:00 April–November and 10:00–19:00 December–March. Thursdays close unless a public holiday, with no substitute closure. General bathing costs junior-high age and over ¥800 weekdays or ¥900 weekends/holidays/special dates; primary pupils ¥400/¥500 and preschool children ¥200/¥300. Free parking does not cover those per-person charges. For an evening arrival, winter’s one-hour-earlier finish determines whether bathing remains possible.
Different hours for the shop, restaurant and museum
FamilyMart opens 06:00–22:00 and also sells Chichibu products. Gorokan’s restaurant runs 11:00–16:00 and shop 10:00–16:00, with Thursday closure. Otaki History and Folklore Museum is separately ticketed, 09:00–17:00 with entry by 16:30; its holiday-Thursday and New Year arrangements differ from the bathhouse. Parking availability does not imply every indoor service is open. An early store stop or a daytime meal-and-museum visit therefore uses different parts of the complex.
A break for journeys towards Yamanashi or Mitsumine
Drive about twenty minutes from Michi-no-Eki Arakawa, then roughly ten towards Takizawa Dam and Raiden Todoroki Bridge or twenty towards Nakatsukyo. Congestion can lengthen the mountain drive to Mitsumine Shrine, so road and parking conditions help determine departure. Public rest spaces distinguish short naps from overnight accommodation. Fit mountain travel around the museum’s afternoon entry deadline or winter bath closing, using a separate lodging for an overnight stay.
Other stops to combine within Chichibu
Central sightseeing, stops in Yoshida or Arakawa, and mountain roads towards Otaki or Mitsumine require different travel times. Fit meal-order deadlines and accommodation arrival around the next stop by car or railway. Choose related parking according to its own facility or area and the applicable use conditions.
