From large tanks to rural freshwater habitats
Sea turtles occupy the large tank near the entrance, while the circulating tank displays Asian sheepshead wrasse, groupers and schooling fish. Other tanks hold large Amazonian freshwater species. A local countryside section introduces rare freshwater fish and aquatic plants, bringing marine habitats and Nagaoka’s smaller waterways into one visit.
Feeding shows, penguins and sea views
Diver feeding shows are listed at 10:15, 11:30, 13:30 and 15:00; archerfish demonstrations at 10:00, 11:00, 13:00, 14:00 and 15:15. Shows may be cancelled. Magellanic penguins occupy their own pool, and the third-floor observation room looks across the Sea of Japan, with distant views such as Sado Island when conditions allow.

Include the coastal journey and the 16:00 admission cutoff when combining central Nagaoka sightseeing.
Other stops to combine within Nagaoka
On the coast, combine Hotel Asuka and Nami no Hana beside the aquarium. Municipal Oteguchi Parking is a separate option for a central Nagaoka visit, not the aquarium lot. Account for the aquarium’s 16:00 admission cutoff and the restaurant’s afternoon break when choosing the order of shows and lunch.
