川湯温泉冨士屋は、大塔川を眺める客室で泊まり、館内の温泉と熊野古道歩きを組み合わせられる旅館です。畳の和室と露天風呂付きの熊野モダン客室では、寝具や子どもの利用条件が異なります。川原から湯が湧く川湯らしい景色を、部屋や館内で過ごす時間にも楽しめます。

川を眺める和室と熊野モダン
31室すべてが大塔川に面し、標準の和室は八～十四畳。熊野モダンの三室は木・竹・土をテーマに、50.6～54平方メートルの空間へツインベッドと温泉の露天風呂を設けています。この客室タイプは子ども利用不可です。朝夕食付きの熊野モダンプランでは15～18時イン・10時アウト、18時超の到着は連絡が必要で、夕食の最終開始は19時です。夕食は会席、朝食は和定食を味わう組合せです。
夜も入れる大浴場と貸切露天
館内の内湯と半露天風呂は男女別で、15時から翌9時まで入浴できます。大浴場の内湯は深夜0時に男女を入れ替えます。泉質はナトリウム・炭酸水素塩・塩化物泉で、源泉かけ流しですが高温のため加水して温度を調整します。貸切露天風呂は45分3,300円、15時30分～最終受付21時30分で、チェックイン後に予約する方式です。先に貸切の時間を決めてから、夕食や大浴場の順番を組み立てられます。
川原の温泉は季節と天候で使い分ける
三～十一月の川原には、宿が掘って用意した露天風呂はありません。宿泊者が自分で掘るためのスコップを数量限定で無料貸出します。高温の湧き湯と川の水を合わせる場所で、雨や増水時などは利用できません。十二～二月は仙人風呂の季節です。河原で着用する湯あみ着の貸出は宿泊者限定、男性150円・女性300円。館内の浴場と川原での体験を区別し、天候に合う過ごし方を選べます。
朝九時の古道送りと三十台の駐車場
古道への無料送りは毎朝9時発、チェックイン時に予約します。バス・タクシーで来た宿泊者は宿から本宮大社、発心門王子、伏拝王子方面へ。車で来た場合は自分の車で本宮の無料駐車場へ移動し、宿のバスへ乗り換えて歩き始める場所へ向かいます。宿には30台分の駐車場があり、背の高いワゴン車も駐車可能。紀伊田辺駅からのバスは約1時間50分、ふじや前下車、上富田ICからは車約1時間です。
田辺市内で組み合わせる訪問先
田辺市は海辺の市街地から、龍神、中辺路、大塔、本宮の山間部へ広がります。食事の注文締切や宿の到着時間を決め、道路の移動と古道の徒歩を含めた時間で訪問先を組み合わせられます。駐車場は立ち寄る施設や地域の条件に合わせて選べます。
Fujiya combines river-facing accommodation at Kawayu with indoor hot-spring bathing and access to Kumano Kodo walks. Tatami rooms and Kumano Modern rooms with private outdoor baths differ in bedding and child restrictions. The Oto River setting brings Kawayu’s landscape of naturally emerging hot water into the experience of staying in the inn.

River-facing Japanese and Kumano Modern rooms
All thirty-one rooms face the river, with standard Japanese rooms of eight to fourteen tatami mats. The three Kumano Modern rooms use wood, bamboo or earth themes across 50.6–54 square metres, with twin beds and a spring-fed outdoor bath. Children cannot use this room type. Its dinner-and-breakfast plan specifies arrival 15:00–18:00 and departure 10:00; contact the inn for arrival after eighteen. Dinner can start no later than 19:00, with kaiseki at dinner and a Japanese set breakfast.
Overnight bathing and the reservable private bath
Separate men’s and women’s indoor and semi-outdoor baths are available from 15:00 until 09:00 the following morning. The main indoor baths switch between men and women at midnight. Flow-through sodium-bicarbonate/chloride spring water is cooled by adding water because of its high source temperature. The private outdoor bath costs ¥3,300 for forty-five minutes, with sessions from 15:30 and final reception at 21:30. Book it after check-in, then fit dinner and the main baths around the chosen time.
Riverbed bathing depends on season and weather
From March through November the inn does not provide a pre-dug riverbed bath. Staying guests can borrow a limited number of shovels free of charge to dig their own, where very hot spring water meets river water. Rain, high water and other conditions can prevent use. December through February is the Sennin-buro season. Rental bathing garments for the riverbed are for staying guests only, at ¥150 for men or ¥300 for women. Distinguish this weather-dependent outdoor experience from the inn’s indoor bathing facilities.
Morning trail transfers and thirty parking spaces
The free trail transfer departs at 09:00 and is reserved at check-in. Guests arriving by bus or taxi travel from the inn toward Hongu Taisha, Hosshinmon-oji and Fushiogami-oji. Guests arriving by car first drive their own vehicle to free parking at Hongu, then transfer to the inn’s bus toward the walking start. Thirty parking spaces at the inn accommodate tall vans. Published access from Kii-Tanabe Station is around one hour fifty minutes by bus to Fujiya-mae; Kamitonda Interchange is about one hour away by car.
Other stops to combine within Tanabe
Tanabe extends from its coastal centre into the mountain districts of Ryujin, Nakahechi, Oto and Hongu. Fit the next stop around meal-order deadlines and accommodation arrival, allowing time for both road travel and any walking on the Kumano Kodo. Choose parking according to the facility or district visited and its use conditions.
