Kirari Ryujin combines a lobby built with local timber and guestrooms facing the Hidakagawa. Japanese rooms, Japanese rooms with beds and Western rooms provide different sleeping arrangements, while meals and hot-spring bathing can be enjoyed in the building. Alongside a car-based stay, a reserved shuttle on selected dates offers another option for arriving by rail.

Room choices and movement between buildings
Rooms face the Hidakagawa. Main-building choices include Japanese rooms, tatami rooms fitted with two local-timber semi-double beds, and Western rooms. Special rooms with a hot-spring bathroom are reserved by telephone. A lift serves the main building, whereas the annex is reached by a roughly twenty-metre passage ending with six upward steps and uses stairs between floors. A further guestroom building connects by another approximately ten-metre passage. The amount of stair use therefore varies with the building as well as the bedding choice.
Meals featuring local produce and hot-spring bathing
Dinner and breakfast are ordinarily buffets, with examples including local vegetables, sweet-simmered river fish, regional sushi, fried dishes, fruit and desserts. Kaiseki banquets in a hall are offered for groups of ten or more. Separate men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor baths use sodium-bicarbonate spring water. Lodging incurs a ¥150 per-person daily bathing tax, with under-twelves exempt. Day-bath arrivals are accepted 11:00–15:00 at adult ¥1,000 or primary pupil ¥500, as a separate use from accommodation.
Fujinami shuttles operate by booking on selected dates
Upcoming 2026 pickup dates are October 19 and November 11 and 25. Departure from Fujinami Station’s east exit is 13:00, with arrival planned at 14:45; the return leaves the inn at 10:00 the next day, reaching the station around 11:45. This is strictly for staying guests with advance reservations, available from one person and not operated without bookings. A toilet break is included. It is a selected-date lodging transfer rather than a daily public bus, so align the stay with the scheduled departure place and time.
October 31 lunch arrangements and mountain access
Lunch closes for a private booking on October 31, 2026, while day bathing continues with normal 11:00–15:00 reception. The published bus journey from Kii-Tanabe Station toward Ryujin is around eighty minutes; driving approaches include Arida and Nanki-Tanabe interchanges. The Koya-Ryujin Skyline links Koyasan, with winter snow restrictions and night closure. From Totsukawa, the operator recommends the Hongu–Nakahechi route instead of the narrow Route 425.
Other stops to combine within Tanabe
Tanabe extends from its coastal centre into the mountain districts of Ryujin, Nakahechi, Oto and Hongu. Fit the next stop around meal-order deadlines and accommodation arrival, allowing time for both road travel and any walking on the Kumano Kodo. Choose parking according to the facility or district visited and its use conditions.
