The merchant-house setting and counter cooking
Opened in 1971, Naka uses a relocated Hida-Takayama merchant building adapted with steep-roof styling and German influences. Teppanyaki counters run through ground-floor and upstairs dining spaces, including private and semi-private rooms. Watching meat, seafood and vegetables cooked in front of the party forms part of the experience. Dessert is served in the basement lounge. The wider Nankai Grill business began in 1952 and manages sourcing and ageing of beef including Miyazaki beef, bringing that approach to the meal.
Lunch-menu days, tax-inclusive prices and portions
The lunch menu is available weekdays and Saturdays, 11:30–15:00 with orders by 14:00; Sunday and holiday lunches use the main menu. Tax-inclusive examples are recommended steak 120 g ¥4,950, premium selection 120 g ¥5,500, Miyazaki sirloin 130 g ¥6,380 and Takumi with two 60 g cuts ¥7,370. They combine starters, soup, salad, grilled vegetables, a rice/tea-soba choice, dessert and a drink. The main menu includes a 140 g sirloin steak course at ¥8,250; it differs from the full course with lobster.
Advance deadlines for special courses and opening hours
Seafood-adapted courses require three days’ notice. The vegetable course with plant-derived stocks and sauces is ¥6,600 and needs one week’s notice, as does the ¥7,150 pork/chicken course without beef. These arrangements differ from ordinary ordering. Lunch is 11:30–15:00; dinner is Tue–Sat 17:00–22:00 or Sun/holidays 16:00–22:00, with evening orders ending 21:00. Closed Mondays, shifting to Tuesday after holiday Mondays. Anniversary courses require booking two business days ahead, so select the appropriate deadline before setting plans.
Access from Hanataguchi and seating choices
At 1-25-2 Kurumanochonishi, Sakai-ku, the published approach is about one minute from Hanataguchi tram stop or eight from Sakai Station. Parking is available. Naka, Higashi and Sakai Station branches have different seating and menu arrangements, so keep the reservation tied to Naka. Arrange floor or private-room preferences with the party size. Tram travel and walking are useful when the meal includes alcohol; leave enough time for the cooking sequence and the lounge afterwards.
