A story-inspired restaurant on Koshiozan
The name comes from Yamanekoken in The Restaurant of Many Orders. Located in the museum parking area, it combines a meal on Koshiozan with souvenir shopping. The shop carries Kenji-inspired and original goods. Ginga Plaza Yamanekoken beside Shin-Hanamaki Station is a different branch, with another address and restaurant telephone number. Use Wildcat House at3-161-33 Yazawa as the destination for the restaurant beside the memorial museum.
Handmade suiton and Hanamaki ingredients
The Yamaneko Suiton Set combines handmade dumplings with a grilled rice ball coated in house miso, salad and pickles. The Ihatov Set includes braised Hakkin pork, water-shield shoots, seasonal vegetables/tempura and suiton. Hakkin-pork katsu curry pairs a local pork cutlet with medium-hot curry and salad. These offer choices between a warming dumpling soup, rice and a more substantial cutlet dish. Seasonal-ingredient set meals provide another lunch option after exploring the area.
Venison soba, guinea fowl and mochi
Shishiodori Soba uses venison chashu arranged to evoke a mask from the local deer-dance tradition. The Ishiguro Farm guinea-fowl cutlet set combines a shiso-and-cheese stuffed cutlet, fried pieces and marinated poultry. Dekunobo is mochi cut with crossed rice-stalk cores, then enjoyed with sweet azuki, sesame and accompaniments. The menu thus extends beyond soba to regional ingredients and ways of eating. The original orange cake is sold in packs of five as a souvenir.
