This municipal lot provides a transition from driving to walking at Ryuokyo between Kinugawa and Kawaji Onsen. Park near the entrance, station and dining places, then return after visiting waterfalls and bridges. The toilet’s twenty-four-hour availability is separate from choosing suitable daylight hours for the gorge paths.

Municipal parking near the station and gorge
The municipal lot at 1357 Fujiwara and adjoining land serves walks from Ryuokyo’s entrance. Yagan Railway’s station and nearby dining places make it convenient before and after the trail. Parties arriving separately by train and car can meet on the entrance side. If returning to the car, use that starting point when choosing an out-and-back walk or a circuit.
Free parking and around-the-clock toilets
Parking is free. Public toilets include accessible facilities, operate twenty-four hours and have no winter toilet closure. Use them before setting off and prepare drinks and walking equipment. Night-time toilet availability does not determine suitable conditions on the unlit nature paths; plan the gorge walk around the daylight remaining.
Walking to the falls and bridge
Nijimi Falls is about twelve minutes from the station area. The shorter route from Goryuo Shrine via Nijimi Bridge, the opposite bank and Musasabi Bridge is about two kilometres/one hour. Unlike a through-walk towards Kawaji, a circuit or out-and-back route returns to the entrance-side car park. Gorge paths include steps and riverside ground, so use walking shoes after leaving the car.
Driving from Imaichi and daytime walks
The usual journey from Imaichi IC takes about thirty-five minutes. Between Kinugawa and Kawaji, the lot supports a gorge visit added to a hot-spring stay. Select the walking distance around river levels, footing and local path notices, accounting for bears, bees and leeches on the nature-study route. Coordinate lunch with entrance-side restaurant hours and allow time to return to the car.
Other stops to combine within Nikko
Ryuokyo walks start by its railway station, with soba and yuba near the entrance. A Kinugawa Onsen stay requires a separate journey to the gorge. Choose between a longer Kawaji route and a shorter circuit returning to the entrance. Coordinate the return to the parked car or the next train with hotel dinner when selecting a distance.
