龍頭之茶屋は、奥日光の竜頭の滝の近くで、おぞう煮や湯波の料理、甘味を取れる茶屋です。滝を眺める食事席とコーヒースタンド、土産売場があり、遊歩道の散策に合わせて休めます。暖かい季節と冬では営業時刻と休みが変わり、冷たいそばや甘味にも提供期間があります。

滝を眺めながら取る食事

古くは日光山志に記された地獄茶屋の時代から旅人を迎えてきた茶屋で、近くに竜頭の滝遊歩道があります。食事席から滝を眺められ、注文は茶屋右奥の窓口で行うセルフサービスです。売店ではひぐらし餅、湯波、たまり漬け、竜頭の滝の小物などを扱います。食事、喫茶、土産選びを、滝の散策とそれぞれ組み合わせられます。

おぞう煮、湯波とひみつ豚

名物のおぞう煮850円のほか、山菜そば・うどん950円、ゆばそば・うどん1,200円を用意します。日光HIMITSU豚を使う豚丼とピリ辛のパワー丼は各1,300円、ひみつの肉そば・うどんは1,200円です。施無畏だんごはみたらし・おぐら各500円、湯波と白玉を入れる日光ゆばしるこは700円。食事量と温かい甘味を選べます。

旅情庵と季節限定の注文

左手のコーヒースタンド旅情庵ではコーヒー450円、ひぐらし餅付き抹茶650円などを扱います。ざるそば850円とゆばざるそば1,200円は4月下旬～9月下旬頃、よせゆば・ゆば刺し700円は4月下旬～11月下旬頃の案内です。白玉しるこ500円は9～4月頃。夏の冷たい品を秋冬も常設する形ではなく、訪れる季節のメニューで休めます。

冬の短縮営業と駐車場所

5～11月は9～17時・無休、12～4月は10～16時で平日不定休です。日光駅方面から湯元温泉行きバスの竜頭の滝下車、徒歩2分。専用駐車場は普通車20台、茶屋まで徒歩約30秒です。隣の県営中駐車場、さかなと森の観察園向かいの下駐車場などは別の駐車場所で、歩く距離が変わります。車は清滝ICから通常約30分です。

日光市内で組み合わせる訪問先

中禅寺湖の船の駅と竜頭の滝、中禅寺金谷ホテルは、湖岸に沿って移動して組み合わせる訪問先です。船の55分一周と茶屋の昼の営業、ホテルでの食事や入浴を組み合わせる日は、それぞれの施設への移動時間も見込めます。秋はいろは坂の交通や湖上の天候で予定が変わるため、出発と帰りの便を軸に巡れます。

Ryuzu-no-Chaya serves zoni, yuba dishes and sweets beside Ryuzu Falls in Oku-Nikko. Dining seats with waterfall views, a coffee stand and a shop complement walks on the nearby trail. Hours and closures change in winter, and cold noodles or certain sweets have their own seasons.

Dining beside the waterfall

The teahouse traces its tradition to Jigoku Chaya, mentioned in the old Nikko Sanshi, and stands close to the Ryuzu Falls walking path. Waterfall-view dining uses self-service, ordered at the rear-right counter. The shop sells Higurashi-mochi, yuba, pickles and Ryuzu souvenirs. Meals, coffee and shopping can each form part of the waterfall walk.

Zoni, yuba and Himitsu pork

Alongside the ¥850 zoni speciality, choices include wild-vegetable soba/udon ¥950 and yuba soba/udon ¥1,200. Nikko Himitsu-pork rice bowls and the spicy Power Bowl cost ¥1,300 each; pork soba/udon costs ¥1,200. Semui dumplings come with mitarashi or red-bean topping for ¥500, while ¥700 Nikko yuba shiruko combines yuba and rice dumplings in sweet soup.

Ryojoan and seasonal choices

Ryojoan on the left serves coffee for ¥450 and matcha with Higurashi-mochi for ¥650. Zaru soba ¥850 and cold yuba soba ¥1,200 run approximately late April–late September; fresh-yuba dishes ¥700 run late April–late November. Shiratama shiruko ¥500 is offered around September–April. These seasonal ranges distinguish cold-weather options from summer-only dishes.

Winter hours and parking approaches

Open 9:00–17:00 daily May–November, changing to 10:00–16:00 with irregular weekday closures December–April. Take a Yumoto-bound bus from the Nikko stations to Ryuzu-no-Taki and walk two minutes. The dedicated twenty-car lot is about thirty seconds from the teahouse. Nearby prefectural middle and lower lots are separate parking locations with different walking distances. The usual drive from Kiyotaki Interchange takes about thirty minutes.

Other stops to combine within Nikko

Fune-no-Eki, Ryuzu Falls and Chuzenji Kanaya are separate stops reached along the lakeshore. When combining the fifty-five-minute cruise, daytime teahouse service and hotel dining or bathing, allow travel time between the facilities. Autumn Irohazaka traffic and lake weather may alter plans, so organise the route around available outbound and return services.
