Explore the greenhouse collection
The greenhouse grows plants that need conditions different from Hokkaido’s outdoor climate. Compare leaf size, flower shapes and growth habits as you walk, with plants such as hibiscus and monstera among the collection. Seasonal flowers add changes through the year. Outside are flower beds, play equipment for young children and a footbath, allowing visitors to balance greenhouse time with outdoor stops according to the weather and the people travelling together.
Understand the seasonal monkey baths
The macaques can be viewed outside winter, but hot-spring bathing is seasonal. The planned period runs from December 1 towards the following spring holiday season; births may end bathing earlier, as the water is drained for the infants’ safety. In autumn 2026 the next bathing period is due to start in December. Visitors can still watch the animals and use the feed sold onsite. The 2026 battery-car season ended on October 12.
Use the correct admission category
Standard admission is ¥300 for adults and ¥100 for elementary and junior-high pupils; preschool children enter free. Groups of twenty or more pay ¥240/¥80. Payment is cash only. Hakodate residents aged 65+ pay ¥150, and eligible local schoolchildren enter free. Disability-and-assistant free admission is a local-resident concession. Hours are 09:30–18:00 in April–October and until 16:30 in November–March, with closure December 29–January 1. Allow daylight for the outdoor sections in winter.
Plan parking, luggage and accessible routes
At 3-1-15 Yunokawa-cho, free parking comprises thirty front spaces and ninety on the opposite side. Three wheelchairs are available to borrow. Greenhouse paths and some outdoor areas have accessible routes, but the stairs to the raised greenhouse viewing area do not have a ramp. There are no loan strollers, lockers or luggage storage, so organise bulky bags beforehand. The whole site is smoke-free; ordinary food and drink are allowed, but alcohol is prohibited.
